Imagine if GB hired Arians and gave him roster control? Especially armed with all these picks they have next year and ample enough free agent capital to go out and get a blue chipper. It would be terrifying enough if they hired Arians period, much less if they actually let him run the whole show.

FF is right though, Packers simply wont do any of that. Packers brass reads the news and has seen the fawning praise of McVay and Nagy, so they will angle for the short-term validation of biting on a trend instead of hiring the guy that can come in right away and make the Packers scary good.

I dont think that will happen, but I sure would love if it did.

Could they hire him by next week?

does arians make sense as the coach to finish out ARod's career?

That'd be awesome but it won't be him. GB will fuck this decision up, guaranteed.

First name I thought of was Arians. I forgot he said would like to coach the Browns.

If GB offered him the job he'd take it in an instant.

They should trade Rodgers. They could probably get a king's ransom for him.

They just made him the highest paid player ever (again).

Yeah, but he's past his prime. They could still sell high.

What does better treatment mean? You either fire him now or have him awkwardly lame duck his way through the rest of the season. Firing him right now spares him the stress of wondering when it's going to happen while also coaching the team. It's actually the most respectful thing they could have done.

waiting until monday

No difference. I would have liked to know immediately myself.

Letting him finish out the season and not firing him before he made it to the parking lot shouldn't be too much to ask. The Packers had never fired a coach during the season and they fire one of the most successful coaches in franchise history.

Working for an employer that doesn't want you around is undignified. Out of self respect I'd never want that.

He started the season working for that employer. Most coaches work for an employer like that.

I think coaching four more games for no reason is more disrespectful than being fired two hours after a game.

You're on an island alone with that way of thinking.

Pretty sure McCarthy is with me on that island
