Ties are very rare even with the rule change that shortened OT.

I think its truly a gut call. With a guy like Harbaugh you roll with it cuz he has skins on the wall that prove his mettle.

By tie I meant kick the xp to tie the game and head to OT.

Why is losing in OT more tolerable than losing on the 2 pt? That makes no sense to me

There is no automatic loss in any scenario except for when you go for 2 in the Ravens-Packers scenario.

That literally does not matter all when it comes to the question I asked.

Even if they convert Rodgers still has 40 seconds to get into field goal range to win.

Because your question suggests you misread my post. I'll rephrase here:

You're the Ravens and you scored a TD, there is less than a minute left in the game. Here are your options my assessment of each option:

Go for 2 and get it: you win the game. This is the best case scenario.

Go for 2 and fail: you lose the game. This is the worst case scenario.

Kick the xp: go to OT. This leads to two sub-scenarios:

Win the toss: the second best outcome out of everything mentioned thus far.

Lose the toss: not ideal but you still have a chance to win.

So when you kick the xp as the Ravens in this case you avoid the worst case scenario and give your guys a chance in OT. If you win the toss, even better, you were gashing GB all day. If you lose the toss, fine, you're still a tipped INT, a fumble, or a stop from getting the ball back.

So in all of these possibilities the only one that preserves your chance at winning is to kick the xp and go to OT. Of course the only one that guarantees a win is going for 2, but going for 2 also comes with a guaranteed loss if you fail. Nothing is guaranteed in OT except additional time to make something happen in your favor.

You sure about that?

Vegan, I am not misreading your posts. You are fundamentally misunderstanding the stakes by thinking losing in OT > losing in regulation. You’re a bright guy. How do you not understand this?

So I know there were 40 secs left, you're right. I'm ignoring that here for the sake of the general argument. The no time left on the clock scenario happened for the Ravens a few weeks ago. I forgot against who.

FF, I said losing the toss to start OT is tolerable. Not losing in OT.

Im starting to worry about you my friend

I see situations like that as follows:

Go for 2:

Succeed and win: optimal
Fail and lose: worst case

FG

Tie and go to OT and win the toss: next best
Tie and go to OT and lose the toss: not ideal but tolerable

So to me at the end of the game you go with the ties because in both cases you're not exposed to the worst case scenario.

Ill admit I misread it so ignore my previous post.

But, the end result is the same. You either win or lose in regulation or OT. Sure, you could tie, bur that’s incredibly rare and virtually guaranteed to not happen in a game where both teams scored 30+ in regulation

Dennis Allen has a perky little rack on him. Is he transitioning or did he lose a few hundred pounds recently?

Entire AFC North is above .500

Steelers are in last place.

Bengals lose 2 home games against good teams, then win at Denver and somehow they end up in first place.

However, if Browns win tomorrow, they will be in first place.

This is worse than a pre-season game. They should give both teams an L for this crap.

I don't think any of the Browns players that were on the list are even off the list. This is what you get when you agree upon and completely fucking stupid protocol and then have to follow it. Baker should kick his center right in his asshole the next time he gets ready for a snap for his role in agreeing to this shit.
