A couple things come to mind regarding the Raiders in Vegas. One is many people that were former fans will go from LA. LA for many is like a weekend trip from there a lot. Two, I think they could sell it out over and above a modest fan base by casinos alone buying them as comps to give away. Lastly, there will be trips from elsewhere to see the away team playing the Raiders. Whether all the other stuff makes it a good deal for city/state/investors that is not my concern.

Quite frankly, none of this is your concern.

Why would a casino give a potential gambler tickets to an event that will take them out of the casino for an entire day? A casinos #1 goal is to keep people in the casino, not leave it.

They give out tickets to the fight, tickets to shows, ect. This would be no different.

I think there is an over-saturation of Football in Florida.

They are giving away free tickets to fights or shows that are in their hotel. Again, they want to keep you in their property.

Oh they would absolutely do a Super Bowl there if the Raiders moved there. It's a reward for the city paying, in part, for a new stadium. But they would go back there more than once. In fact, they would be in a regular rotation like Miami and New Orleans are.

You're right. Vegas is the perfect city for Super Bowl week.

The gambling isn't a big deal. I mean as far as NFL players throwing games cuz they got involved with the mob. Players make enough money to where they don't have to do that. Plus, gambling is everywhere since the internet came along. So you can throw games in any city if you were so inclined.

The problem is gonna be the hookers, strip clubs, casinos and clubs. I mean I know every city has this shit. But not like Vegas. The hookers, strip clubs, casinos and clubs are better in Vegas.

So it would be a problem for a lot of players.

Nah. It wouldn't be permanent. Goodell owes favors to other teams and cities. But I would think it would be once every 5 years or so.

NFL players aren't that well paid (compared to other sports) and have horribly short careers, for the price they pay in long-term health issues:

Quote:
• Median NFL player salary: $770,000
• Average NFL career length: 3.5 years

doesn't every american now live within an hour or two's drive of some sort of casino? Vegas needs to diversify its entertainment landscape.

They should build the stadium and then have other teams play 1 game a season there.

Also, now that LA has an NFL team, the other owners prefer Vegas have the interest in and means to get an NFL franchise--but they don't want Vegas to actually get one. "Fine, we'll move the team to Vegas" has replaced "Fine ,we'll move the team to LA" for owners looking to extort money from local municipalities. Similar to how every MLB team btw the Alleghenies and the Mississippi would be rumored to move to Tampa back before Tampa got an MLB team.

I know. But the super stars would have to throw the game. They make a lot. You'd have to get to them. Specifically the QB. I mean the special teams guy on the coverage team can't throw a game. He could say he's gonna try to "Vinny the bookie". He can say he'll miss tackles on kickoffs. But is the mob gonna trust that whatever plays he throws is gonna win him the game? Of course not.

And like I said, you don't have to play in Vegas to throw a game. Anybody could get to any player in any city if they wanted to. Any player in any city can agree to it.

The reason they get to you is cuz your have a huge gambling debt.

I doubt the Raiders will ever want to share a stadium w/ a baseball club ever again.

Hub talked about this last evening on B&G. It seems he could have seen this as he always does. His larger point was Mark Davis does not know what he is doing though.

What a shitshow. Just stay in Oakland where you belong.

I guess that this means that Beast Mode won't be as enthused to give them the home team benefit bow.

If I'm Pete Carroll I'm on the phone right now.

It was cool when the NFL walked out on St. Louis, because St. Louis sucks and the Rams shouldn't have left Los Angeles for St. Louis in the first place. It was fucked up when they walked out on San Diego to double up on Los Angeles, and this is even worse. Now there's no NFL team within 30 miles of San Francisco. They'll come to regret this.

Nah, they are playing the next 2 seasons (at least) in Oakland.

Yeah, but for all intents and purposes as the Vegas raiders

Fitting that the owner from the city with the shittiest stadium deal for taxpayers voted against it, even though he didn't say that was why. The Vegas stadium deal is another example of the public taking on all the risk while the already rich dudes are protected from it.

They've alienated like 7 million potential fans in only 18 months.
