I don't think that's what happened yesterday, but regardless he's right in that area. There aren't five coaches better.

It absolutely did. Minnesota was driving inside the Lions' 20, inside of two minutes. Caldwell stopped the clock twice, because they would need to time to go down the field if the Vikings punched it in. Vikes had 3rd and goal at the one, with two timeouts remaining, and Zimmer stopped the clock with :27 left. He should have let the clock run down to :15 or :12. With two timeouts, that ensures enough time to run two plays, leaving very little time left. Stafford spiked the ball with :02 left, before Prater's game tying field goal. If Zimmer just lets the clock run a bit, the Lions have no time to tie the game. This one is absolutely on Zimmer.

It never ceases to amaze me just how poorly NFL coaches manage the clock.

NFC North doing their best to overtake AFC South in biggest collection of idiot coaches and bad football.

What did Zimmer do wrong?

Nothing specifically today.

Just never bought into the whole notion that he is a top coach. I have yet to see anything that really makes me think top coach.

Kirkwood is rarely right in regard to football, but he is right here. The coaches of the NFC Central are a collective group of boobs. Zimmer maybe the top boob of the group but that does not make him a top tier coach in the NFL

Coaches in the NFC Central are non-existent. In fact, so are the teams.

Great trade. They may not even make the playoffs.

Yep, still am. You named guys like Rivera and Arians who have more talent and worse performances so far. It happens.

If the story is true, about the players doing something different besides what coach said in how they defended Jordy Nelson today, that either gets a coach fired or players cut.

Let's ask Terry Bradshaw if he thinks Tomlin is better than Zimmer

Nothing would make me happier than them firing him. He would have his pick of the available jobs.

It's tough to fairly judge him over the second half of the season. The Vikings had tons of injuries, including a decimated offensive line. He also had Sam Bradford as his QB.

He can be fairly judged for his horrendous clock management against the Lions at home. He got punked by Jim Caldwell. That's tough to do.

What a great trade. No playoffs and a bad draft slot for the rest of the picks.
