Yes, its close FF. 312 is a turdbag of the giant kind.

belichick's dynasty is pretty amazing considering how much the NFL has changed right before his eyes, and he keeps putting a winning team out there.

he's spanned more than one era. besides landry and halas, there hasn't been a coach who has done that.

gibbs, noll, walsh, lombardi, all did it during one era.

Brady and Montana are similar guys.

What Belichick has done in this era is hard to believe. The rules are designed to create parity. I would say Brown and Lombardi are the next best coaches and Walsh would be the next level down with Shula and Landry.

I would say Landry was one era.

landry was a head coach for almost 30 years, and his 2 super bowls had a span of 6 years.

Sure the NFL has changed during Belichick's time, but on the flip side its pretty clear he has not followed all rules 100%.

Well, the rules he has broken are what I'd call "gamesmanship" rather than real cheating. The people that cry about it weren't beating him anyway. It's similar to Paul Brown equipping the quarterback's helmet with a radio. That was a big controversy in its time. When the league found out about it, Halas advised his linemen to tackle the quarterback by the head. After they pounded George Ratterman for a half, he took off the helmet and pounded it against the ground, screaming, "You can't break this fucking thing!" But after that the transistor began picking up conversations from cab drivers on State Street and Michigan Avenue.

Has Belichick revolutionized the way the game is played? The all time greats usually do that. He's just found multiple ways to win. That's really impressive

Both are pretty damned good ... I would guess that BB can do more with whatever is handed to him whereas BW might be tied to his offensive strategy to improvise too much. Put another way, give these Bears a game with each coach ... who is likely to do better? I'd wager BB.

Whichever one a person wants though, it's probably not going to be a wrong answer.

Shula

I mean, Bill Walsh doesn't even have as many career wins as Ditka.

There is no way that Shula, the whining, rules changing compiler is on the list. Especially after getting his ass kicked in two Super Bowls.

And back to the original question, it's easily Walsh imo. To paraphrase Bum Phillips: Walsh could take his and beat yours, then take yours and beat his.

And Walsh routinely whipped Ditka's ass and made him like it. Even when Ditka was coaching in Dallas. Hell i'd have given Walsh's Stanford teams a chance against the Saints when that buffoon ran the show in NO.

You have Stram over Gibbs & Walsh? Please explain.

It was actually an editing mistake...had a list typed up and meant to move Stram to the second tier...I think Walsh was a great innovator, but given the tools at his disposal, to me, Belichick is better (based on the original question).

The Mt Rushmore is Belichick, Walsh, Noll, Lombardi.

Definitely close. The Cleveland team has to be held against him. The tweaks which Walsh made to the passing game with his version of the WC offense were significant, and probably more than what Bill B. has done in terms of player/roster management (which I think is his underrated greatest strength in the salary cap era).

But where I think Bill B. gets the edge is that he was able to innovate on both offense and defense. Walsh was purely an offensive mind.

I mentioned Noll and Walsh in my original conversation with IMU about it. I think they are the two closest.

I wouldn't have Mike Holmgren anywhere near an all time great list. He was just a guy who rode an insanely dominant team to one Super Bowl and underachieved the rest of his career. Sound like someone else we know?

He then rode Seattle to a Super Bowl that, had the officials not made the fix in, could've been a Super Bowl win. he also coached Green Bay to 2 Super Bowls, winning the one.

doesn't mean i think he's with the all time greats. but he's definitely better than what you described.

You can't hold Cleveland against Belichick. What exactly is there to hold? He inherited a mess of a team, rebuilt it from the ground up, was moving in the right direction, then the bottom dropped out because the team moved to Baltimore and the players quit, then Modell fired Belichick to pander to Baltimore and bring back Ted Marchibroda. Then the Ravens turned out to be an elite team after the work Belichick put in.

Where's Bill Parcells?

Boyd's a SJW and eliminated Parcells because of Parcells problematic use of the word she when describing Terry Glenn.

2002-2003 was such a simpler time for problematica because I remember the time Parcells got in trouble for saying "we like to call 'em Jap Plays" and ESPN kept talking about how unspeakably awful this phrase was...while replaying the clip over and over and over and over and over so that the whole network was basically just Bill Parcells saying "Jap Plays" all day. It was like the SNL sketch where they interview Jeff Daniels and just show him shitting in Dumb and Dumber a thousand times. Now you wouldn't even hear it once!

Yeah, that totally sounds like something I'd do...I think my favorite part of being a true SJW is that I really just don't give a shit about most things.
