IMO, from a legal perspective, a team could get in trouble for saying, "We offered 500K but he wanted 8 Million". I think it's going to be a while before something like this is eventually leaked, maybe by a former GM.

Why? Teams talk about failed negotiations all the time. What does it say about a league that allows violent criminals to play but draws the line at a guy taking a political stand? I'm still going to watch but it bothers me.

This reads like conservative fan fiction. Evidently the source cannot name which team but can confidently relate that Kaepernick sees himself as a race messiah, and the NFL is all to happy to cooperate by hushing talk of negotiations which have actually occurred.

This seemed fairly obvious. Many teams would have paid him to be on the bench. He's not good enough to be a starter on a good team and he is probably good enough to put you a few draft picks higher.

That is what was so dumb about "JOSH MCNOWN GOT SIGNED AND HE SUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKS!". Yeah, he sucks and that is ok.

I've said it before and I will say it again, if Kaepernick could play like Aaron Rodgers...I don't care if he shit on the 50 yard line at Soldier Field and wiped the mess up with an American Flag, I'd take him on the Bears in a heartbeat.....

1) He's far from the Kapernick of a few years ago. Whatever pixie dust Harbaugh spread on him is gone. The guy I saw against the Bears last year was pathetic and disinterested.

2) In terms of backup QB jobs, there are two types..Alpha Backups and Beta Backups.....the alpha's actively want to start again and are going to try and win the job back over. Not every team wants an Alpha..they want the beta...so that cuts his options a ton.

He's just not that good.

I believe it's about being a starting quarterback when there isn't really a case for him to be that on any average team.

He opted out of a big contract from the 49ers. Is he accepting a backup role?

I believe it's about both. If he were as good as Brady he could light a flag on fire at the 50 yard line and someone would sign him. But the fact that he is a marginal guy taking a political stand that is unpopular with MANY of the customers is making him untouchable. There isn't much upside to signing him.

Yeah if he were a GREAT player he probably could. Ray Rice wasn't even good when he knocked a woman out cold and if it weren't for a video he would still be playing. Tank Johnson was involved in a murder IIRC and he was still able to play. We all know that stars have done far worse.

This isn't a football decision.

He, just like Cutler, didn't want to be a backup. He was told "no" by every team until a former coach got desperate after an injury.

If he was talking to Baltimore and Seattle he clearly would be willing to be a backup.

I'm pretty sure the Seahawks down't want an Alpha backup. They want a beta.

I'm guessing Seattle offered him the league minimum.

I imagine most teams want a QB good enough to push the starter or help them win if he gets hurt. Russell's job isn't on the line.

Yup. The cap friendly contract of Wilson is LONG gone. 18 million cap hit this year, 21 next year, 23 the year after that. They aint paying shit to anyone else at QB

I'm guessing he would have taken it if it were offered. By that time there were 0 starting jobs available. Same is true for Baltimore.

Injury insurance..maybe..push Russell Wilson? I don't think he needs to be pushed.

If Kapernick was willing to play for less, at this point, it only benefits his camp to release that information.

If at least one NFL teams had actually made him an offer, doesn't it only benefit the league to release that information rather than trying to sweep it under the rug?

He has made a lot of money. This gives him more attention. It was a tough decision for Cutler to get a free $10 million from Miami. You think Kaep is doing it all for a few hundred thousand dollars after all the other groups get a cut of his one year deal?

If he's having discussions with Baltimore and Seattle clearly he has to be willing to play for less. His camp knows there isn't money available and Wilson and Flacco already make a shit load of money.

Why does Kaepernick's actions bother the league?
