Probably one of the worst weeks ever for the NFL. Hernandez CTE at age 27 or before and Trump's comments, calling for a boycott. Both are devastating.

What player would even want to play, knowing he's at risk in his 20s of CTE? Trump didn't saying anything that didn't reflect broader sentiment of people being fed up with these tatooed millionaires protesting on company and on the fans' time, when their job is to play football. He is correct that the owners have lost control of their product and that they should clean house. The players that are doing this aren't even making clear what they are protesting anymore.

Are they siding with Kaepernick still, that black people are being oppressed? Like all the black people in the NFL?

I don't think the league will survive unless there are major changes now. All the primadonnas have to go. Only then will dignity come back to the game.

The president couldn't convince his supporters not to watch football.

Baseball player knelt today during the anthem, baseball also doomed.

Tomorrow....All teams will take the field. The players from both teams with join hands during the anthem with a one standing/one kneeling order.

It is a poorly run league that is doing to itself what MLB did to baseball. Moving franchises is the most damaging thing, the blanket relocation of three teams in quick succession was a massive mistake. I still hope something rescues the Raiders.

I don't care now if the NFL collapses, and that goes for the MLB too. Someone told me years ago that professional sports was a waste of time. While I didn't think that way then, I do now. There are much better options for my Saturday and Sunday afternoons than watching these prima donnas. The old players that played for nothing are rolling in their graves.

One sport that has not been infected yet is hockey. I'll watch that and horse racing from now on. You know that at least the animals will try their best and not be ungrateful. I got more enjoyment out of watching West Coast romp yesterday by six lengths in the Pennsylvania Derby than seeing any Bear game this year.

The ones that have gone PC and have prima donna cancers are not worth watching.

Where will these prima donnas be when no one is watching and they aren't getting paychecks? They'll reap what they have sown.

The NHL doesn't have the number of prima donnas compared to other sports which is what I think Rube is talking about. There are a lot of other parts of the league that is a shitshow though.

Patriots ironically booed by own fans where American patriotism started.

http://nypost.com/2017/09/24/patriots-f ... m-protest/

Here's the clip that defines the moment. Booing begins around 0:33 and then becomes loud by 0:41.

The NFL benefitted from this.

Most definitely. Loved seeing those guys do what they did.

(Cynically, the owners benefitted, too, as it keeps the attention from a number of issues.)

Rube is right. Instead of the players wasting the company's and fans' time by protesting during the anthem, they should just start running plays right there.

Leash, you're not a dumb guy. But to say that the league benefited from its own disgrace is about as wrong as it gets.

Especially when you have players like Rothlisberger coming out today, expressing regret for not coming out for the anthem.

Once the league started going PC and letting the prima donnas run wild (like the idiot who slowed down short of the goal-line yesterday for the Bears and fumbled), in other words, getting away from football, this disaster was inevitable.

The damage is done and cannot be taken back.

One of the first malcontents ironically enough was Jim McMahon. He was defiant toward his coach, and got away with a lot of shit he shouldn't have.

And look what happened to him, he played only 7 of his 14 years in Chicago. Had he not been such an asswipe and been more dedicated, maybe he would have won more than one championship with the Bears and stayed for his career.

That's the nicest thing anyone's ever said about me.

Politics aside, I'm talking ratings. I promise you this will not hurt their ratings, and I bet their ratings from this weekend were some of the best ever.
