Was looking around to see what the current active rushing yardage leaders are, and sitting up top isn't Adrian Peterson -- it is Frank Gore with 13,520 career yards.

Looking at the most recent inductees, you have Ladanian Tomlinson with 13,684 yards and 145 TDs (and 624 catches for 4.7k yards); Bettis has 13,662 with 91 TDs; Curtis Martin has 14,101 with 90 TDs; Faulk has 12,279 yards and 100 TDs (with 767 catches for 6.8k)

Gore is a little light on the TDs with only 80 rushing and the receiving is also in the OK range with 431 for 3.5k - but he is consistent and has 9 years of 1,000+ yds rushing... I just don't know that I would ever say he was a dominant guy that you would be really scared of facing.

I think you have Priest Holmes and Shaun Alexander getting in over the next five years or so, and I would imagine Peterson gets in when he is eligible, but I really can't see Gore getting a spot when they only have seven to dole out every year. Then again, they let in Terrell Davis for some reason, so I guess anything can happen.

You guys are nuts. The NFL HOF includes not excludes. Gore was an exciting RB in his prime. He gets in easy.

Just for some more fuel for discussion, Gore is 7th all time in rushing right now and will likely be 5th by the end of this season. Every running back who has rushed for over 12,000 yards is in the Hall Of Fame (if eligible, with exception of Edgerrin James.) That's thirteen guys.

Probably not, but Gore was a beast for MANY years. Was one of the best at making something from nothing. Even with two fake knees.

Dante Hall was an exciting KR in his prime. Arguably the most exciting player in the NFL. Not good criteria for HOF.

Not to mention I would disagree. Gore is a classic 20 rush 85 yard RB. Very solid. Not HOF.

Reminds me a bit of Darren Sproles, who actually was exciting. He's like 8th or 9th all time in all purpose yards in NFL history. He's not a HOFer either.

Gore played on some great teams plus the big time stats....he's in and PRINT IT!

Was he every better than the third best offensive player later on a team?

Manning and Harrison were the drivers of that offense.

Pretty good with the 49ers!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Gore

Gore is one of only three players to have nine consecutive seasons with 200 or more carries, while also maintaining an average of four yards per carry or better. The other two players to accomplish this are Hall of Famers Jim Brown and Barry Sanders.

I’ve never turned on a game to watch him.

Never lead the league in rushing.

Never all pro.

His second best season is 1200 yards rushing. Just not a high enough peak for me.

Frank Gore is the Harold Baines of running backs.

Of course not. I don't even have him in the Hall of Very Good. He's in the Hall of Good That Stuck Around For Longer Than Usual. He's a HoGTSAFLTU'er.

I've said it before, but I have no problems with NFL "accumulators" getting into the HoF. It's a brutal sport and if you stay healthy enough to be the 5th leading rusher all-time, that's NFL HoF-worthy.

My issue would be with him getting in over a person with lesser career stats but burned hotter when on top.

What about Jamal Lewis?

2000 yard club. 4 times over 1300 yards. 10k yards in 9 seasons.

I don’t think he gets in either, but where do you rank the 2?

After Curtis Martin got in, I lost respect for the process and the HOF

In his defense, he did have a good Berman nickname.

NFL HOF is the hardest of all the sports to rate. It is such a brutal sport that having a 13 year career can give you career stats that will eclipse much better players.

What is the shortest career that you would put in the HOF?

Rookie breaks through with a 2,000 yard (receiving or rushing) season. Follows it up X number of 1800 yard seasons and blows his knee out never to return. How many years?

I would support 3 total years, meaning a career of 2000, 1800, 1800. Done.

Was it possible to lose in FFL in 1998 if you drafted TD #1 overall? For the year he averaged 23 points a game. 2225 yards from scrimmage and 23 TD's.
