I guess we can just read the story tomorrow. I've heard rumors about this the last week or two though - basically the Patriots forced Belichick to trade Jimmy G and he's pissed about it. Who knows if it's true, gotta imagine he's too fuckin old to go start over somewhere else though.

He's not the oldest coach in the league. But he's up there. I suppose if he's as good as he thinks he is (and most of us think he is) - he could go to a team that's "on the brink" of something good, that also has a good QB - and he could do something great again. Just not for as many years.

Wouldn't, say....25+ teams drop everything and take Belichik right now, even for short term?

They need to lose as soon as possible so he can get his draft board set up in Green Bay.

I might be thinking about it too simplistically but wouldnt literally every team?

I mean... maybe the Rams coach keeps their new young genius kid. But even if I’m the Steelers or Ravens or Vikings I’m instantly firing Tomlin, Harbaugh, Zimmer, etc if I’m guaranteed BB.

It was the Rams that I also immediately thought of that would not drop their coach. I'm not sure the Steelers would drop Tomlin: 3 coaches ever and all that...
All the teams with the young up and comers would be the ones that would hesitate. And the Raiders, because, you know...

Ravens probably already talking about a possible bus to the BWI for Harbaugh. They'd do it in a heartbeat.

This story features a Sarah Spain tweet where one person complains that she's promoting a story that doesn't need her promoting it, and then another guy complains that she hasn't autographed the picture of her own cleavage that he mailed to her (even after "following all the site requirements"). 2018's a trip.

Article is up here: http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/page/ho ... r-struggle

It's being downplayed as ESPN trying to create drama, but I think that's only because it seems relatively underwhelming because it had an unnecessary 36 hours of hype before it was released. I've already seen complaints about lack of named sources, but I generally trust Wickersham and I think one of the reasons the article itself may seem disappointing is because his writing is more careful than the sensationalistic way the article was hyped up.

As for the substance, Kraft comes across like a goof and looks the worst of all, Brady seems insecure, Guerrero continues to seem like a con artist, and Belichick seems justifiably resentful.

It's especially hilarious reading Patriot fans' reactions to this story. Half of them are convinced this is fake news and the other half are declaring it's all so trivially true that there was no need for a story at all.

The New England success is all Tom Brady. Best QB ever and is making less than he should be.

It would be awesome if a quack fake doctor that says that drinking water can stop sunburns takes down the franchise that no one in the league could.

ESPN has a disgusting amount of self promotion. "Everyone is talking about it" because each of the ESPN hosts across their different media has been instructed to talk about it. Sarah Spain, with a new job better than any job she has ever had in her life, feels particular fealty to the organization.

It really is amazing when we learn about the lives of some of the greatest athletes in the world how sad their lives are portrayed. I mean, you have a guy like Brady, that seemingly should live one of the greatest lives, have so few friends that he is willing to believe some snake oil salesman that convinced him that drinking a lot of water can stop sunburns and he's either too stupid or too desperate to be like "That sounds like the dumbest thing I've ever heard". He could literally call up the #1 expert in the world on Dermatology and probably get a private meeting with them about the subject of if sunburns can be prevented by drinking a lot of water and instead he not only accepts it as the truth but publicly declares it to be true so now he is a laughing stock for being involved in it.

Why do you hate water? I imagine that it's tough to have friends when you are as popular and successful and driven as he is.

All dynasties fail by self-implosion. See the 90's Bulls. The same level of discomfort that manifests itself with consistent losing also appears when you are consistently win more than anyone else. There is a natural reaction to push you away from a certain comfort level.

No doubt. I'm a fan so I'm going to defend him. Probably the last player that I am truly a fan of.
