Solid article. Obviously everything on the list after #1 is very debatable. Kyle Shanahan's ranking probably makes the least sense, but the guy makes decent arguments for where he puts all the coaches. Personally I would move Nagy and Reich up and Carroll down, but I understand both have more to prove.

1. Bill Belichick
2. Andy Reid
3. Sean McVay
4. Doug Pederson
5. Peter Carroll
6. Sean Payton
7. Mike Tomlin
8. John Harbaugh
9. Mike Zimmer
10. Ron Rivera
11. Anthony Lynn
12. Matt Nagy
13. Frank Reich
14. Bill O'Brien
15. Kyle Shanahan
16. Sean McDermott
17. Mike Vrabel
18. Jason Garrett
19. Dan Quinn
20. Jay Gruden
21. Doug Marrone
22. Matt Patricia
23. Jon Gruden
24. Pat Shurmer

NEW COACHES

25. Bruce Arians
26. Vic Fangio
27. Brian Flores
28. Adam Gase
29. Kliff Kingsbury
30. Freddie Kitchens
31. Matt LeFleur
32. Zac Taylor

Zimmer is way too high. Without Schurmer as his OC he has been exposed. And his defense chokes on a dick in the big games.

Arians deserves to be higher even tho he is a new coach.

I think he would've been in the 10-12 range if the author didn't purposely separate the new hires.

You should but Aryan right by Reich, just because.

Zimmer is solid. After 13 the list falls off a cliff

Def in top 15 I would think.

Kitchens is gonna skyrocket on a list like this by November of next year. IDK if he's even gonna be a great HC, but he will have that offense humming and they will be good so he will get the credit.

Matt Patricia is listed way too high at this point.

Sean Payton is better than McVay and Pederson thus far.

Nagy is way too high. Way too early to be knocking on top-10 in the league

Have fun trying to justify putting one of the guys currently behind him in front of him

 What? He’s listed as 3rd worst non-new hire coach! He can’t go much lower amigo.

Bill O’Brien thought Tom Savage was better than Deshaun Watson

Nothing in McDermott’s resume supports putting him higher than Nagy.

Arians is fine but that’s not how the list was constructed.

See, you say that because you're football stupid.

He took the Bills to the playoffs two years ago and then won 6 games with a team EVERYONE thought would struggle to win 2.

Take a look at the predictions for the Bills last year. It's revisionist history to think otherwise.

The guy made an idiotic mistake with Peterman for Taylor but it seems like that was their dumbass GM forcing his hand.

Your analysis is lazy. What drove the Bears success last year? The defense. Who deferred all responsibility for the defense? Nagy.

I'm always going to give a guy with a track record of successes over a one-year record.

You should be ashamed for falling for SSS. Very sad.

O'Brien and certainly McDermott don't have a track record of success. Fuck outta with calling my analysis lazy and then trying to shit out those thoughts

Nagy built a winning culture there immediately and absolutely carried a bum like Mitch into competency. His work was much more impressive than McDermott's last year.

Andy Reid with ZERO super bowl wins is not #2 on that list. As much of a rectum as Pete Carroll is...he's #2 on that list. Mike Tomlin should be #3 but he's sliding every by the season.

Pete Carroll has one of the best QB's in the NFL, who was playing out of his mind against Dallas in the playoffs, and continued to deliberately run the ball with no success and promptly got beaten by Jason Garrett in a playoff game.

#5 is being generous with Carroll. He belongs nowhere near the top 3.

Also, had Marshawn Lynch but threw the ball at the one yard line in the Super Bowl.

What terrible lame reasoning.

I bet McDermott was in Nagy's position as he took a loser franchise (no playoffs in 18 years) and made them. Installed a winning culture! Took a consensus bust in Josh Allen and made him semi-competent.

Gimme a break with these lame excuses

If Nagy goes 6-10 this upcoming season you will get close to having an argument. You have none right now, and are falling back on overusing the word "lame" in lieu of an actual rebuttal. The one year McDermott got to the playoffs was still less successful than Nagy's year last year and McDermott had a better QB.

Sean Payton is overrated. He's missed the play-offs entirely in 5 out of 12 years. Even McCarthy had a better record.

Yeah but he also got fucked hard out of a 2nd SB appearance this past year and it's very hard to fault him for the Minneapolis Miracle.

Edit: I know Bostic fucked McCarthy out of a 2nd appearance too

I suppose but an argument could be made that a stupid penalty and your guy Favre handed them their 1st appearance.

18th ranked defense last year, 26th the year before, forget about offense, for a defensive guy his defenses, well suck. His only good hire on offense was Lynn, who left the following year.
