Because Caldwell is terrible.

No idea if Patricia will be better or not, but it is not a high bar to clear.

Caldwell was 36-28 in four seasons in Detroit with a playoff appearance. I'm not sure if you can define that as terrible, especially for the Lions franchise.

A great example of why overall record is not an end all for how good or bad a coach is.

  How do you evaluate coaches? By height? No offense but that is some 'Rube shit right there.

I did not say it was not part of the evaluation. But it is not all there is in it.

Caldwell has been a terrible game coach. His teams are not prepared. He makes terrible decisions in games and especially with clock management.

If he was terrible, I don't think his teams would have been 36-28 over 4 years.

He went 11-5 in year one. Then he went 7-9, 9-7, & 9-7. He was 0-2 in the playoffs.

Thats mediocre at best.

Mediocre is a fair take. But not terrible.

Read the thread. Nobody called him a terrible coach.

Mediocre is a fair take. But not terrible.

So the Lions should keep a mediocre coach?

Why? Mediocre is not acceptable, especially when they have had so much talent.

Terrible..mediocre...either way the Lions should try for better. Patricia may or may not be the answer, but they definitely should not just settle for mediocre.

Ok... back on topic... Bernstein and that other fella had someone on today who had some info on this deal but I missed it because of a crazy bitch and her humidifier. Did anyone catch it?

How long are they going to keep the lid on this thing? I saw the rumor where he broke curfew, got popped for weed possession and then got into it with BB.

Maybe Butler makes a play his replacement does not make, maybe not, we'll never know. Sounds like there were only two passes to defend, may have been less for Butler.

Most total yards on any NFL game, ever. How do you get there? Only one recorded sack. We all could see that downfield contact by DBs was not only not flagged, but practically encouraged. Were the refs also just ignoring any and all holding, thus allowing the two QBs enough time to throw it all over the yard? I saw Brady got hit more than a couple of times, but not early enough to make that big of a difference.

If Butler just made a simple play to stop them getting a 1st down and made them punt it might have changed the outcome of the game. Not talking an INT. Just batting away a throw. Or defending a guy well and getting a sack because of it. Whatever.

Belicheck's ego got in front of him winning a Super Bowl. He doesn't think so. But that's because his ego is always talking to him.

Belicheck pretends to be this humble guy that's team first. That everything is about the team. But that's never been true about him. He's a great coach. Obviously. But he might have cost NE this SB because of his ego.

And if he lets him play and word gets out that he violated team rules and nothing was done then people are criticizing him for that as well.

What could he have done that was so bad? Out too late drinking during SB week? So what? You fine him. He wasn't arrested or else we would have known that. So whatever he didn't wasn't that bad.

Not that Brady would ever break a rule, but he would have started him if he had.

The guy didn't really know, but he said it would come out eventually. He thought Butler was demoted after the Jaguar game, but it wasn't known if he then broke team rules, curfew, etc.

BB don't play when it comes to being on time, there was a guy who had a huge 2 game run at running back( I think) he was 5 minutes late for film study a few years ago and he was benched and kicked off the team a week later.
