Post subject:  2019 Week 1

Well I noticed there are some strangely high spreads for Week 1. Usually underdogs cover big-ass spreads and I see that happening here. Too much parity in the NFL. And also Week 1 tends to be a crapshoot. Always a few surprise results as teams sort of burst on the scene and come out of nowhere. Let's take a closer look at some surprisingly high spreads:

PHI vs WASH favored by 10.5? Division games are tough and Wash always gives divisional foes fits. Hard to believe. Wentz has a lot to prove after all his injuries.

Browns -5.5 vs Titans? What have the Browns proven? Nothing! They havent done shit. They were a sub .500 team last year. Now that changes with OBJ? Usually when a team is overhyped they fall flat on their face. Easy cover for the Titans. People forget Titans are well-coached and have slowly built a good defense. And even though he hasnt reached his full potential, I like Mariota, and think he's a good athlete and tends to have good games when u least expect it.

Ravens -7.0 at Miami? Seems high. Baltimore is rarely good enough to be favored on the road by 7 against ANYBODY. Not sure why that's different here. Yea Miami shook things up in the offseason but they still play tough close games at home. Ravens arent exactly that good on offense. Lamar is not a thrower.

Chargers -7 vs Colts. Yeah SD is at home, and no Andrew Luck, but Colts are still a solid tough overall team, and Brissett is no slouch. He certainly wont lose them the game with turnovers. I dont know, seems a couple points too high.

Dallas -7 vs NYG. Dallas is an average team. Year after year they prove it no matter the hype. Whenever theyre favored big, they fall flat on their face. NYG really was a better team than they showed last year. And sometimes, when u lose a star WR there can be addition by subtraction. Other guys step up and are discovered. And I think Eli is still a good QB, it's sad people write him off. Also NYG always plays tough at Dallas. Spread is too high.

NE -6.0 vs. Steelers. I guess. But it still struck me as a tad high. Woulda thought maybe -4 or -4.5. Yea they won the Super Bowl but lets face it, they were still beatable last year. Steelers still have Big Ben. But NE should win.

Discuss.

Didn't take the Chiefs long to crank it back up.

Not a good start for the Falcons- 3 & out, then get their punt blocked.

Look at all these teams scoring touchdowns, and they aren't even coached by offensive gurus.

Bears try to rely on gadget plays. I haven't seen one yet today by another team.
Also teams aren't afraid to throw downfield.

28-0 Ravens. Dolphins might be the worst team in the league.

The Browns are plenty talented but it should be a major concern that they are showing zero discipline in week 1. Kitchens is clearly a pushover and with the personalities on that team this could be a shit show.

They were wise to sit their starters in the preseason.
