Interestin' now how suddenly the Chiefs are St. Louis's team, or I guess u could say, Missouri's team.

I guess since the Rams left, the Chiefs moved in.

Anybody else surprised by this?

Did St. louisans suddenly turn into Chief fans? Seems odd to me.

Anybody else notice this?

I did. I filed a FOIA request with KMOX and their upper management to get to the bottom of things. I'll let you know when I have acquired the documents.

The problem that the Rams always had in St. Louis was that whereas Cardinal Nation spreads far and wide (in large part because of the reach of KMOX), the Rams' fanbase never went that far past the suburbs. The Bears have a healthy following downstate, the Chiefs claim most of Missouri, and then you have Cowboys/Packers fans to deal with elsewhere as well, not to mention jamokes who only like college sports. Figure that years of the football Cardinals or no NFL team at all sent people to non-STL allegiances over the years and the Rams were never able to take over just by dropping in. It was a relocation, like many, that should not have been allowed. May as well stick the Chiefs on KMOX, they have to fill weekend hours and they were never a Rams station anyway (they were on Rongey's old FM station).

The last season in St. Louis they were advertising for Bears fans to buy tickets. The Bears dominated a Rams team led by Nick Foles.

The St. Louis Rams basically played at a convention center. When the team wasn't playing, they rolled up the Astroturf and held robotics competitions on the floor. Easily the worst stadium in the league during its time. At least Oakland had sunlight, and at least Soldier Field has a nice location.

The response to "I'm moving the Los Angeles Rams to St. Louis" should have been "shut up, you are most certainly not." And I think initially it was, but lawsuits and so forth. Relocations should have remained illegal after the merger; Al Davis kinda fucked that up for everyone.

Think it was bad for football? Watching basketball there made Wrigley rooftops feel close.

when i was living in springfield, the rams were still in LA, and i believe the chiefs were part of the st. louis/missouri region back then. we always got KC games in the late afternoons, or any AFC west game.

As CH said, Missouri is a St Louis state for baseball and a Kansas City state for football. It is really just that simple. Put all the teams in St Louis you want and the state will remain a KC state

It's all due to that Kansas City shell game they play between the two states.

Probably because the best thing about living in St. Louis is that you get to hear Chiefs game on the radio.

Was it the Chiefs' home broadcast, or the Westwood One feed?

I remember reading they picked up the Chiefs' network feed a few years ago.

You are the only person I know who can comment intelligently on out-of-town media. Wisconsin, Missourah, NY, weren't you talking about Colorado last week? Not an insult--that's pretty cool.

I don't know anything about Colorado media.

You commented on something last week out West...not LA...but I guess we can forgive you for not knowing one market.
