And if anything more scrutiny should be applied to Lawrence over Fields since he was unequivocally the highest-rated prospect since maybe Andrew Luck, so he has a higher standard to live up to. Fields and Trevor have been neck and neck as rated prospects going back to high school. A dozen NFL teams just completely fucked the draft up, something we see every year basically.

Yes, but once Lawrence went no 1 and Fields dropped to 11th overall and 4th QB selected, the standards are now different. Lawrence, the NY dude, and Lance should be held to higher standards, with Lawrence having the highest standard. Imo

They all have the same standard - they are expected to be franchise QBs, nothing less.

Not having watched a lot of Jags games, what I hear is that unlike Fields, Lawrence just hasn’t shown any flashes of being good. “They” say Fields, despite a lot of bad, has shown things that coaches can work with. Lawrence has just shown he’s really good at turning it over.

It was interesting to hear Dave Wannstedt with P&S just now talking about how he and Jimmy Johnson were in the same position entering the NFL after ultra-success in college. It sounds like the difference was that Johnson brought over most of his college coaches and they were all on the same page (so they were able to withstand initial adversity), vs Meyer, who couldn't work with other NFL assistants.

Urban Meyer's a bad guy for enabling Aaron Hernandez and setting Hernandez on the trajectory that resulted in Aaron's and other people's deaths. Meyer's a bad guy for the assorted fuckery he covered up for while at Ohio State. Meyer's a bad coach for publicly throwing assistant coaches and his players under the bus when things didn't go well at Jacksonville. I don't know what the situation is with Meyer's wife and him macking on girls a decade younger than his daughter. Seems a bit off the reservation to me; I guess if she's cool with it, no harm.
