They seem to be both equally underwhelming, no? And if anything more scrutiny should be applied to Lawrence over Fields since he was unequivocally the highest-rated prospect since maybe Andrew Luck, so he has a higher standard to live up to. Given all the buzz he generated multiple years before he got drafted, he's basically the 2003 LeBron of the NFL.

Fields and Trevor have been neck and neck as rated prospects going back to high school. A dozen NFL teams just completely fucked the draft up, something we see every year basically.

Yes, but once Lawrence went no 1 and Fields dropped to 11th overall and 4th QB selected, the standards are now different. Lawrence, the NY dude, and Lance should be held to higher standards, with Lawrence having the highest standard. Imo

I remember suggesting here, after the Ohio St/Clemson game, that Fields should be drafted higher than Lawrence...and that was met with laughter. Hard to say whether either will turn out to be long-term stars or end up as serviceable backups.

I don't agree with that. A lot of draft capital was spent on all four QBs. They all have the same standard - they are expected to be franchise QBs, nothing less.

Agree.

Given their respective coaches, I don't think you can draw any conclusions to Trevor or Fields at this point in time. Maybe Trevor has been a bit more disappointing because he's been the clear QB1 since draft day, but I don't think Meyer did him a lot of favors outside of grabbing headlines himself.

G ATT COMP Yards TD's INT Rating
QB 1: 16 575 326 3739 26 28 71.2

QB 2: 17 574 334 3366 11 17 68.9

One is in the Hall of Fame. One is Trevor Lawrence.

Still a long way to go to call him a bust.

Lawrence has 1 TD pass in his last 6 games / approx 200 passing attempts

Manning only had 1 game without a TD pass his rookie season, his 3rd game and multiple TD passes in 7 of his rookie season games.

Lawrence has 1 multiple TD game so far -- 3 TDs (and 3 picks) in game 1 against the mighty Houstons of Texas

Not having watched a lot of Jags games, what I hear is that unlike Fields, Lawrence just hasn’t shown any flashes of being good. “They” say Fields, despite a lot of bad, has shown things that coaches can work with. Lawrence has just shown he’s really good at turning it over.

Urban Meyer showed, much like Nick Saban, he was overwhelmed by the NFL and probably handcuffed his coordinators (with NFL experience) from being able to do anything remotely resembling NFL level football. I'm interested to see what Lawrence does when he has a coach who isn't a complete college turd to run the program.

It was interesting to hear Dave Wannstedt with P&S just now talking about how he and Jimmy Johnson were in the same position entering the NFL after ultra-success in college. It sounds like the difference was that Johnson brought over most of his college coaches and they were all on the same page (so they were able to withstand initial adversity), vs Meyer, who couldn't work with other NFL assistants.

No. The difference is that JJ was given a whole year to complete a 1-15 season with a rookie QB, and Meyer wasn't. Did u forget about 1-15?

No he's not. He simply caved into cancel culture. He's a dumbfuck.

He's been tryin to publicly support Meyer this whole time, but unfortunately the media keeps on building a smear campaign against Meyer just because he was next to a lady at an Ohio college bar.

Big whoop.

You're right, Meyer was doing such a great job with the Jags.

It has to be a bit, SS. "Cancel culture caused Meyer's firing" is not a take you will see a lot of.

Yeah, the bit is that some guy who was already dumb suffered a traumatic brain injury and now has to live in a group home with very permissive internet policies. It's a creative one, I'll give the person that.

It's funny how Bevell was also the interim coach in Detroit after Fat Matt Patricia was fired.

I am.

I dont see the problem with him.

Give the guy a chance. Just because he's next to a lady at a college bar makes him a bad guy?

It's been nothing but a smear campaign.

Give him a fuckin chance and stop fucking him over all the time.

Urban Meyer's a bad guy for enabling Aaron Hernandez and setting Hernandez on the trajectory that resulted in Aaron's and other people's deaths. Meyer's a bad guy for the assorted fuckery he covered up for while at Ohio State. Meyer's a bad coach for publicly throwing assistant coaches and his players under the bus when things didn't go well at Jacksonville. I don't know what the situation is with Meyer's wife and him macking on girls a decade younger than his daughter. Seems a bit off the reservation to me; I guess if she's cool with it, no harm. But I imagine she'd rather he not put their lifestyle on blast like that (if that's what it is).

You prove my point. Everything u say is just a smear campaign. If Urban Meyer 'enabled' AH, then what does that make Belichik? Oops.

Assorted fuckery. Very vague. I would say most athletes and coaches have engaged in some sort of fuckery to get where theyre at.

Etc, etc.

It's total cancel culture. Read what I said dumbfuck. The OWNER HIMSELF publicly backed him the whole year. He simply caved because the media kept smearing him. AT least u finally wrote out a complete sentence though.
