ESPN saying Flores lost a "power struggle" with the GM, also had a bad relationship with Tua ( ).

Who cares about Tua, but sucks to lose out in a struggle like that. Good luck replacing him, it was a great achievement to get to 8-9 with no RB and a combination of Brisset and Tua as your QBs.

So basically Flores told the GM your number 5 pick sucks, should have gotten Herbert. That is the power struggle, move on from Tua or stick with him.

Maybe we should make Flores the GM. He's completely right.

Eh they saw the future a bit more with Love. Hardly encouraging, it was a depressing day in the big picture for GB. Detroit is ascendent.

the coach thing I get, giving him full autonomy over the entire organization seems a bit hasty.

I forgot about Week 1...lose 38-3 to the Saints, Rodgers had 2 pics (turned out to be half of his season total) and a rating of 37.

Much better though then his idea to hire a grade school football coach.

Outrageous.

Flores is the only coach in the AFC East in the last 20 years that met the most important prerequisite of the job: Beat Bill Belichik. And he did it in Foxboro twice too. And kickstarted the separation of Tom Brady away from the Patriots. 4-2 vs Belichik.

This has gotta be the dumbest GM in history.

I'd rather go 9-8 and miss the playoffs while beating Belichik, than go 10-6 and miss the playoffs because u lost to Belichik twice.

Flores wanted Herbert and the GM and owner over ruled him and got Tua, by all accounts he is a straight shooter, all business( I like that) but Minka Fitzpatrick wanted out( bad) and Dashaun Watson sidnt want to play for him( probably a good sign) I hope the Bears hire him.

Giants looking for a GM and Coach and have 2 top 7 picks in the draft.

That's gonna be enticing.

They don't have a quarterback and may not have a running back either. Their owner sucks more than a McCaskey could ever suck.

I would take the Giants over the last 30 years or so compared to the garbage we have seen.

The Giants job is definitely a better opportunity than the Bears. The only way the Bears snag one of the hot coaches is if he believe Fields is the real deal…something which even Nas doesn’t believe.

The giants have a ton of draft choices and potentially could grab 2 OL with those first 2 picks, then turn completely defense with their next several picks. The giants would do well to go after a qb such as (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky to compete with Jones. The giants were dreadful all year but in the right hands they could start turning things around soon.

It's not really a great draft and it's laughable to say right now the Giants job is absolutely better than the Bears job.

the Giants team certainly isn't better at this time, but initially the new GM and coach of the Giants will have more tools to work with to get things turned around in the form of draft picks. The draft is rich in OL at the top, which is their primary need. Having picks 5 and 7 in a year you desperately need OL help is fortuitous this year. They have tons of other needs and will certainly be bad again next year, but a new coach and GM starting at a shitty team could do worse than that situation.

the other advantage to the Giants job is that they arent tied to any of these players. outside of andrew thomas, who actually had a very good year at tackle, and a few young defensive guys, the new GM and coach will be able to blow the whole fucking thing up together on the same timeline without having to work around "we need to build around such and such a player".

The Giants are cap fucked till 2023. They couldn't even field a full roster the last week of the season because of the cap. They are going to have to cut a bunch of good players(what's left) to even sign two top 10 picks.

The giants could cut the entire team and nobody would notice. They aren't going to be competitive for at least a couple years as bad as they are, so yes, some players will get cut to make room for new players. And followers of the team will applaud them for it. the quicker they can re-envision this team and distance themselves from this version of it the better.

So the Giants are a better job than the Bears because it's a complete rebuild that will take years?

Well if you are the view that Fields will suck the Giants is a much better job. They have draft picks.

That's basically it.

If Fields isn't good, the Bears job is awful.

I think that's a different discussion. If a coach doesn't believe they can give Justin Fields a good chance to be successful then they shouldn't come here.
