The Mitch apologists were dealt a huge reality check last offseason when he signed as a backup for 3 million.

I say he signs a 2 year deal for 3 mill per, Miami.

No way. Backup maybe or contention in camp. Steelers will go with Rudolph before signing Simone average as the anointed starter.

I think he stays in Buffalo with around the same contract that he has now. He seems comfortable there.

Here's the bar for Fields in his 2nd season based on Mitch's 2nd season. It was his first with Nagy. So, Fields doesn't get to use the excuse of a new head coach, offensive coordinator and system.

14 games played

3223 yards

24 TDs

12 INTs

Starting for the Browns after he beats out Baker in training camp.

This will be interesting.
2021 proved that NO team was interested in Mitch as a starter. Does that change for 2022?

Then again...does Mitch even give a shit? He has a chance to carry a clipboard for a nice career and make very good money.

I could see them signing someone like Mitch or Mariota to compete with Rudolph for the starting job. That's if they don't make some sort of "splash" in the offseason or the draft.

I really don't care. Outside of him signing with an NFC North team I don't wish ill will upon Mitch, but its time to let him go. He doesn't play here anymore. Outside of a handful of games, it didn't work with him. Maybe he has success elsewhere or maybe he doesn't, but Fields is the guy in Chicago now and that's all that matters.

I don't think it was a reality check. He chose a place where he could sit for a year and reform his career just like people like Bridgewater and Winston did.

He will get another chance as being a starting quarterback though it probably requires some sort of QB competition.

It's actually what has me worried that he'll be brought to New Orleans with all the cap issues down there.

I'd be fine with signing anyone to compete. If Rudolph is the plan as game 1 starter, Tomlin's streak of not having a losing season is over. Also saw a graphic floating around twitter that the Steelers have gone the longest without finishing last in their division (1988, I think?). That could end with Rudolph too....

Kirk Cousins could be had for a 1st rounder?

I'd rather have a corner or linebacker to replace one of the cap casualties we'll be facing.

Don’t you feel that next season is pretty much a write-off?

Its not a writeoff. They can make the playoffs.

Maybe, but they didn’t make it this season and I feel like they will go into next season still without a legit QB and missing some of their key players (due to salary cap issues).

I think you are light on the years and money. He'll be brought in with a chance to start so maybe 6 as a base with heavy bonuses that can get him to ten. Also, a two year deal

I dont care about Mitch one way or the other, but it would be fun seeing him get a chance and really succeed somewhere after reading how shitty he is on here over the years. Is it likely? probably not, but would make for some good content on here if he started and made the playoffs and had a good run somewhere.

As long as Fields is somewhere near the player MANY expect him to be, I have no problem with (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky playing well anywhere outside of the NFC North.

Please God, no.

Mitch isn't as bad as we've seen, but he's not going to be anything close to HOF caliber.
