Lions looking good with potentially a top 5 pick (via the Rams) and their own top 12ish pick. Same with Seattle - top 5 (via Denver) and their own mid-round selection. I didn't know the Eagles have NO's pick, which might be top 7ish. Pretty good to be 9-1 and have a high pick.

I do think the bears should sell their pick if it's top 3 to the highest bidder. Drop a few spots to the 7-12 range and pick up a first next year and in 2025 plus multiple second round and later picks for 2023 and 2024.

Yeah, I hope they stay in the #2 spot so a team that needs a quarterback can trade up.

That was Parkins' take today, that if the Bears get a top-2 pick and there are two can't-miss QBs in the draft, the Bears should get a great haul. But that line of thinking assumes Fields is "the guy." Maybe Poles would rather take a QB and see what he could get for Fields. We just don't know if Poles wants to hitch his wagon to Fields or not. And Poles may not know yet either.

A month ago the idea of the Bears getting a 1st rounder for Fields was laughed off. Now it seems more plausible.

I agree it assumes Fields is the guy. I'm not invested in him as much as a guy like Parkins is, where it's almost emotional. I just care about extracting as much value as possible. If you don't like Fields then sure exchange him for a king's ransom and move forward.

I imagine the Bears could get multiple first round picks for Fields. I also don't think Young or Stroud will be better than Fields.

If Poles doesn't like Fields, he should shop in the free agent market for a quarterback. Trading Fields and trading back in the draft could be HUGE. Poles doesn't have enough cachet to do something like this.

Bears stay at #2 and get Eberlose his coveted 3 technique Jalen Carter

Thinking about positions you can't/shouldn't draft in the top 10-15 due to devaluation relative to other roles:

RB
TE

What others are there?

Unless you can guarantee me Carter is going to be a HoF player, I'm not using my top pick on a defensive player.

Top picks should be used on players within 5-10 feet of the football

I'm saying this Bears team has to focus on offense in the first round.

I have. Have you seen the free agent market for defensive players? It's GREAT.

Michael Mayer might be available at 2. If he’s still on the board, there’s your pick.

I like Fields, but Poles would be absolutely crazy not to test the trade market for him. He has been unable to play a complete season in either of his first two years in the NFL. It's unlikely he's going to get healthier as he ages.

Fields is a beast. Through college and the beating he is taking. He could have played last week. He won't play 25 years like Tom Brady but he has the fire and the passion. He can put a solid career together. Get some defense.

The Bears should take an OL dude in the first round.

Every NFL team should take an OL dude within the first three rounds of every draft.

What’s that you say, what are you going to do with eight caliber starting OL dudes? I can solve that problem in any of 25 different ways.

You know what problem you can’t solve, an OL with one barely average NFL player.

I think you give Fields one more year to show he can actually pass the ball. If he can't, then the Bears will be bad next year and get another high pick. If he can actually pass then you are set up for greatness.

It is literally impossible for them to cut him and field a team. The dead cap would be $100M.

I don't disagree. However, if someone offered me a Trey Lance like package, I'm driving Fields to the airport.

He's got knee issues I'm worried about, but trust me, if he's there the coaching staff will be standing on tables to draft him. This stupid Tampa 2 doesn't work without a dominant 3 technique and it's hardest position to find in football after quarterback.

My dream scenario is Daron Payne on day 1 of free agency and carter in the first round of the draft.

BUT

I see the attractiveness of having the second pick, and getting two #1 from the Lions or Seahawks, with which they chose a top WR and RT.

They still sign Payne
