I guess we'll never know the full offer. I just reread the cost for Wilson. Ignoring players for now. First and second round picks in 2022. First and second round picks for 2023. I think Paton will be gone by March 1. They will use the excuse that the new coach wouldn't take the job otherwise. But really, he's just marking time in case a Sean Payton is crazy enough to take the coaching job and wants his own GM. Otherwise they have to hire a GM first and then search for the coach.

I think that's right for football--especially when you're talking about a Payton level HC. Hire the coach and then have the coach providing input on hiring the GM. Baseball you always hire GM and then manager, front office rules the roost in baseball.

I've heard some commentators, including Florio, saying things like "oh, those walmart heirs will not brook any incompetence, they'll run things the right way". So far they've been party to nothing but incompetence w/r/t the Broncos; if Sam ran his stores the way his kids are ruining the Broncos, we wouldn't know his name.
