Post subject:  What Could Have Been: Stroud/Young/Richardson/Levis Tracker

These QBs were available to the Bears in 2023 and we said pass, we're good with Fields. Now that we know Fields isn't the guy it doesn't mean we made the wrong decision. Well, maybe it does. Who knows. But it'll be interesting to track.

All rookies QBs who've played are bottom ten so far in QBR. Embarrassingly, Fields has the second worst QBR in the league. Only Pickett is worse; all rookie QBs have better QBRs so far than Fields.

Surprisingly Richardson, the least experienced top 5 QB pick maybe ever, is middle of the road in completion percentage. Stroud is tied basically with him. Young is closer to Fields. Not good. Love is worse than all

Stroud leads the league in sacks. Must be an Ohio State thing. Fields is right behind him.

On the other hand, Stroud so far is a legitimate garbage time stat producer. For a rookie that's actually quite good I think. He is second overall in air yards. But he's not airing it out per se. He's middle of the road in yards per pass and none of these guys have completed a pass longer than 32 yards (Stroud). Youngs longest completion went for 22 yards.

So far Stroud looks to be the most promising. Young has underwhelmed and Richardson hasn't played enough but he's doesn't look lost when he has played. Stroud needs to stop with the sacks - big red flag given our problem with that in Chicago. Stroud so far has had a much better two game stretch than Fields. Not good.

Interesting post from you, the Packers have valued this position so well and made what seems to be a solid position going forward. Some teams clearly never figure this out. Also, where is Love in your QBR ratings?

Your bacon must be laced with whatever brain eating bacteria is in FavreFan's drinking water. This thread is about rookie QBs. Love is a four year vet who has a bottom 5 completion percentage. I will never support Brian Gutenkrause. Players win championships. Gutenkust eats donuts.

Love leads the league in TD passes, but you know that, so focus on the important stats like completion percentage.

Y'all shook

This thread ain't even about Love. I made one innocuous comment after two games and here comes the Bootlicking brigade. Y'all scared

Nope, just LOVE poking fun at your shitty organization and how they are continually run. Now that is FUCKING funny

I dont think there will be any regret on passing on those QBs. Getting Moore and the extra 1 next year is a really nice thing to have. Next years QB class is supposed to be much better than the guys that went this year.

What you're missing is that working for the Bears is a great way to advance your career since you're often hired into roles that report to no one for a few years. Then when they finally find your boss you actually get 1-2 years of grace period time because it's not good for public relations for the new boss to replace you with "his guy" so soon. So the job perks are actually quite good with the Bears. I'm sure the same can't be said of other places.

Now he's going to get $50 million a year.

Fields trade value is gone. Could've had all what you described plus more by trading Fields.

It's a whoops. It isn't like it wasn't discussed. They just didn't have the balls to do it, and now they've wasted a year.

I think they checked. They learned the league didn't value him as much as the Fields Cult. They also didn't love these quarterbacks.

If Trey Lance got some playing time he would probably be better than Fields too

I mean Stroud may end up sucking but at least he's mastered the forward pass.

JT O'Sullivan on Stroud:

I love how he throws with anticipation.

He continues to impress

Stroud looking good again against a playoff contender.

Correction: Stroud looks real good. This is not garbage time production. He's putting the team on his back this week

Stroud doing a great job of releasing the ball right before the pass rush gets there.

Which previous game by the Jaguars impressed you more, Jacksonville losing to the Colts playing a rookie QB in his first ever NFL game (whom the Colts have since benched) entering the 4th quarter week 1 or Jaguars losing to the Chiefs by 3x's the spread in week 2

I have no idea what this means without punctuation. All you need to know is a rookie QB is slaying a more experienced/win now team. I don't think it's something we've ever seen in Chicago.

Stroud is Exhibit A on why Fields needs to be launched tomorrow.

Not getting any better for Bears fans

Check O'Sullivan declare his love for Stroud here. Feel free to watch the throw at 8:40 if you dare. Osullivan praises Stroud for pocket movement prowess plus "world class anticipation" at different times.

Stroud is a legit top 10 NFL QB right now.

He might be a top 5 QB, the Texans have zero skill players that are weapons.

Stroud is playing at an elite level week in and week out.

no no no, I thought young quarterbacks can only succeed if they have top level talent at wide receiver, O-line , in the backfield, etc.

All that helps, but Stroud might be a generational talent.
