Didn't put this in the Bears section because there isn't an option to create a poll.

Who should the Bears hire as their next head coach? If you choose "other", post who you think it should be, whether it's another teams assistant, a college coach, or another former head coach with experience that isn't listed.

Regarding Hub's report that the team is interested in Cowher, I'd rather have Shanahan.

Oh, and post your choice in the thread so we know who is voting for who.

i put shanahan, too. while he watched the broncos fall apart after the title years, i think some of that was due to him taking too much responsibility and wanting too much power. i think he needs a change of scene and he may be able to clean up some of this mess.

Holmgren as GM and Shanahan as coach - I know it will never happen but a kid can dream.

I still cannot fathom the love for Shanny. He has done absolutely nothing since Elway retired. He won when he had a HOF QB, RB and TE. Since then, not so much. In fact, I think over his last few years, Lovie had a better record. It is easy to be a offensive "genius" when you have Elway, Davis and a great OL. Why in the world should the Bears hire him?

Even though I think it's nothing more than a pipedream, I'd love to see Bill Cowher tell Shannon Sharpe to "shut the ---- up" on "The NFL Today", walk off the New York set in the middle of the pregame show and announce to America that he's the Bears' new head coach live on CBS during the upcoming NFL Playoffs. At least we all can dream...

Me either.

Him and Cutler worked so well together that they never made the playoffs, he was fired, and Cutler was traded away for a deal at the time that was considered one sided.

Is the 2008 Denver Broncos really who we want to emulate?

Good point, but I'd actually rather emulate the 2008 Broncos over the 2009 Bears.

I went with Shanahan too, only because I think Holmgren is going to want more control than just the head coach position.

The offense, to me, is the biggest wound that needs healing. Shanahan and his staff seem to put together pretty nice offensive packages that make even marginal players productive. We have no shortage of marginal players here, so he might be a nice fit.

Might be a decent Defensive Coordinator under Shanahan.

Cowher....He seems like he would be best able to deal with the nuttiness that is the Bears at this place in time.

I'm also surprised there isn't more votes for Dungy.

We don't need another Lovie.

Anyway, need a GM, too.

Or we can pick up Jimmy Johnson and get both... so long as he does not bring Wanny back :-)

Yea, Dungy needs to settle the hell down. He isn't Jesus or Mother Theresa I think he's a good coach, but I'm not sure I could stomach him as the Bears coach.

I'm still sticking with Shanahan and a solid Defensive Coordinator. I'd even take Holmgren, because I really just want and offensive minded head coach.

Seven votes for Lovie now??? What the fuck is wrong with you people? This isn't who you think will coach the Bears next year, it's who you want to coach the Bears next year.

After much thought, I'm slowly coming around to your guys thinking on Shannahan. Not totally but I have more reservations than I did before.

I've decided Cowher is my dog. I hope they go for it.
