It's funny because I see an agent actually saying that to a teams GM!

GM "Why does he spell jackpot without the K?"
AGENT "He grew up on the streets in South central, with no formal education"
GM "didn't he go to UC Berkley?"
AGENT "Well, he played football there, if that's what you mean"
GM "Is he in a gang or not?"
AGENT "Of course not, now let's finish this deal before anymore crazy rumors come out!"

C'mon now, there was already a Jackpot Records when he started his label. It was either that or "Jaquepot"

I've always been a big fan of Chip Kelly. I like him even more now.

Bet you loved it when they resigned pillar of the community Riley Copper this offseason though. Fuck that, Chip recruited 1000 guys like DJ (supposedly) at Oregon and didn't give a shit. He didn't suddenly get a conscience, they had to pay this one.

I don't doubt a ton of high school kids that get recruited are member or have close ties to a gang, but if you don't think it is different when a 28 year old man, who has made millions playing in the NFL is still tightly affiliated with that gang, that's a totally different story.

I would like to see Roger GOODall, actually have a written policy on it. It would make some guys start to distance themselves from gang ties before they make it big.

A guy that's never had any legal trouble at 28. The Eagles leaked the story they day before they released him. KC Johnson should be so lucky to get a scoop handed to him.

To state the obvious it's going to be extremely interesting to see how this plays out after Hernandez. Teams are going to play it safe, but at the same time can/will Jackson push back legally if he claims these allegations caused harm to his career and constitute some sort of slander?

It's not that nobody will sign him, but I have to imagine it cost DJ some serious money on whatever deal he signs.

I assume he already has a few offers and the additional language on the rider is being negotiated, because nobody is going to totally ignore it and if the league looks into his gang ties and DeAngelo Hall says the guy claimed he would cut him, or something then flashed his gang sign, I could sign a solid suspension for a guy who is hanging with convicted murderers.

I don't see this as a big deal but I could be missing something. I assume most black athletes have "gang" ties. If they grew up relatively poor they probably knew gang members or were in gangs. He hasn't committed a crime as far as I know. What has he done that is different than someone like Iverson and other star players?

flashing a gang sign during a game towards another player, which then triggers a more in depth investigation.

Having financial ties to a known gang member who had a party where people were killed.

Pics with guys who are on trial for murder.

The meaning behind his tats.

Nope, he has never been convicted or even charged with anything. I could see him getting sued for his interest in the party thing, if he co-signed on the loan as I have known owners who have been sued for under age parties of which they had nothing to do with.

Nobody is in denial of a number of players who know gang members, but for a team to cut a guy based on the gang issue as a main reason, it brings some attention to the issue.

The Redskins and receiver DeSean Jackson have indeed agreed to terms. According to a league source, the terms have not yet been put to paper and signed. It’s expected to be reviewed and signed later this morning.

Darren Heitner of Forbes.com has reported that the deal is worth $24 million over three years, with $16 million guaranteed. And that’s $16 million fully guaranteed. Upon signing. Money in the bank.

Per our source, the guarantee is $16 million — and the $16 million will be fully guaranteed that moment Jackson puts his Hancock on the contract.

Eagles fans are being incredibly creepy about this Jackson thing. Kelly didn't really do anything different than what Reid did the past 10 years. But they've become very college fan cult-ish around Kelly and supporting anything he does. Or simply they're happy the Eagles resigned the white guy and cut the black "gangbanger". It is Philadelphia.

exactly the type WR the bears need if not for the money

It sucks that Knox got hurt. He would average 20 YPC in this offense.
