Numbers wise he had a really good preseason. Right now he just isn't strong enough. Based on production he would have made the team.

He was a tweener is what we heard, too small to play D End in a 4/3, and too slow to play OLB in a 3/4, there are a lot of guys trying to make NFL rosters, so don’t give some guy extra credit for being gay.

I'm not into conspiracies or what all, I would welcome a world where whatever his sexuality may happen to be wasn't even worth mentioning.

Rams front 7 is actually pretty stacked. Someone will claim him, or he goes to the practice squad, correct?

Hoodie and Carroll are the only 2 we can come up with.

I guess the answer is; if he were a game changer, the circus would be easier to stomach. I'm not passing judgment, just saying there are probably two handfuls of marginal players out there with Sam's ability. Right or wrong, that's the way it is. If he proves himself, he will play. I hope he catches on somewhere and develops into a solid NFL player. He won't be the first player to take that path. It's up to him now. He can sit back and say he's a victim of his sexual orientation or he can work hard to prove people wrong. We'll see which path he takes. I hope it's the latter.

Talk about the voice of reason.

"SEC PotY" doesn't mean shit to a tree. Nearly every Heisman winner ends up being a big ball of m'eh.

Let's be honest. The fact that no team, of the 32, picked up Michael Sam means 32 teams are homophobic. Including the Rams. Who, while they drafted him, didn't even put him on their 10 man practice squad after he had a decent pre season. So the Rams learned to hate gay people while having him in training camp.

THE NFL hates gays!!!!! #Truth.

He had a good preseason and being gay is the primary reason he doesn't have a job.

Don't worry, when the Rams move to Los Angeles, they're going to have a whole starting eleven of 'mos.

The answer is simple. The league knows he is not an NFL player.

There are 32 teams. Which means there are 320 practice squad spots. You telling me Michael Sam isnt, at the very least, a top 320 practice squad player? Of course he is.

From what I saw it seems he proved enough to be in the top 320 guys who aren't good enough for the NFL.

Isaiah Frey still has a job.

He is probably good enough to be on a practice squad, but if you are going to bring a media circus with you, you better be a top of the line player. Otherwise they will not deal with it.

ESPN is pretty much ending his career earlier than it should.

I feel as if you can't be the best defensive player in the best conference and not be able to make any of 32 53-man rosters and practice squads. Nor do you fall to the compensatory end of the last round of the draft.

I agree that ESPN certainly didn't help his cause.

The fact that he had a good preseason makes it worse. The Bears are carrying a few guys that have never had a good stretch of games.

I thought so too. When Michael Sam was tonguing him and cramming cake in his face on ESPN, the white boy really didn't seem to like it.

I'll bet he's not even gay!!!! Just pretending for the NFL money which he can't get now.

I dunno, Beardown. Competitive aquatics seem to have wound up being pretty gay.

Sam certainly is good enough to play in that Canadian Football league. If they don't take him, then something is really wrong. And if he does go there and lights it up, which he will, and the NFL doesn't take him next year, then the GMs will just have to admit "We don't want a gay". Cuz that's what they'll be saying if the don't actually say it.

I think they're saying that right now for him not to be one of the 320 practice squad players.

yeah i think the reality show was also a problem for his cause. it's one thing to be "brave" in loving the cock and all of that (cuz "bravery" in contemporary culture = bascally being gay, minority, or a woman) but to show up and literally have a camera crew with you where there's a story about filming the guy in the lockeroom? idk.

i think sam hedged his bets early that he was a marginal-at-best NFL talent and figured at worst if he can't stick on a NFL roster if he pimped the reality/bravery angle and got himself out there as a name brand he can spend the rest of his life going around the world giving 25k+ lectures on his bravery and all that. you know, just like jason collins who only did the "awww shucks i'm gay" thing when his career was basically dead/over (and people like me were able to discover that jason collins exists when his bravery was put on display) as a cynical move to try and get a new team who wanted the positive PR for giving a gay guy a shot. and that typo was suitably hilarious.

so yeah, i still think the whole reality show angle prolly didnt help his cause cuz i mean what kind of a 53rd-man-on-the-roster-at-best has a fucking reality show coming into the "sacred grounds" of training camp and providing competition-for/new-meaning-to "hard knocks" ---- that was never in his best interests unless his plan B was basically to end up being on the speaker circuit discussing his bravery and all that

and hey if tim tebow has a job on the SEC network as a lush of a football analyst, well hey, who's to say that good ol mike-sam can't put the "anal" in "analyst" and give the world the much-needed-perspective of a gay man in terms of football punditry?

either way i'm sure his whole special status will result in him having a pretty good life where ppl wanna hire him and hear his football thoughts, so it's not like he's gonna be selling used cars by year's end. good for him.... but in the end, yeah, claiming you wanna be "just one of the guys" and "work my ass off to be the best football player i can be but showing up with a whole reality tv crew just didnt work out for the guy.

i wonder if they're still filming..... hmmmm
