Probably bad money, but still only a quarter of what Cutler is being paid annually. It won't kill the Bucs to end that early if they want to.

No, but don't you think the Bucs could have got Josh for say $2 million a season rather than throw $5 Million per at him? Its just fucking stupid. I think Lovie got caught up in trying to steal him away from the Bears. The best thing for the Bucs would be if Josh is out with a broken hand, then Glennon can develop. Then again, with Lovie & Jeff Tedford, I seriously doubt than any QB can improve.

I assume Lovie et al assumed the big fix was at least two years off so its a stop gap. Lovie may have a "plan"?

Lovie will have success there.

He was 5-11 in his 1st year with the Bears. He'll eventually get them to be a 9/10 win borderline 1st-round playoff out each year.

Did you miss my numerous posts about how Lovie has complete control of personnel in Tampa Bay & that the GM works for Lovie?

No fucking way. I agree the Saints have not been great. the offense has been average and the Defense is below average, but TB winning means nothing....Lovie pulled the Hnag around , hang around and then go for it....and it worked. Some bad Pitt play helped.

if Polamalu covered the WR...instead of playing in no mans land between the Qb and the WR, Pitt wins that game...but he is Polamalu...this guy makes so many dumb plays, it is amazing...

You play 1-2 yards in the endzone...protect the endzone with 7 seconds left....if the QB runs from 8 yard sout, you can get him...

Instead he is left waving off a good catch,.

I can't stand looking at the Buccaneers' uniforms. Who decided slightly yellowish grey was a team color that would inspire passionate loyalty?

But creamsicle orange is a bright color, it's a Floridian color. Warm grey is just BLAH.

I'm going to back slowly away from this thought.

Those guys were down 38-0 and it was barely the 2nd quarter.

Stay strong.

Pieces were in place (54,55, 33) before Lovie got here.

Lovie disagrees

Maybe some of these high draft picks arent as great as thought. It seems like it happens a lot, especially with Defensive players, that they play well enough to not be considered a bust at first but you look up after a few years and they're average.

Lovie Smith: Bucs aren't as talented as they need to be
24

By Conor Orr
Around The NFL Writer
Published: Oct. 13, 2014 at 12:26 p.m. Updated: Oct. 13, 2014 at 01:06 p.m.
There are defensive coaches on talent-starved teams that likely cringed when they heard Lovie Smith talking about his team after yet another double-digit loss, the Buccaneers' second in four weeks.

Part of the theme of his post-Ravens press conference, which took place moments after a 48-17 loss, was about personnel and whether Tampa Bay has players good enough to run Smith's scheme.

"We're not giving excuses ... but we're not as talented as we need to be in some areas, and sometimes you can pick on that a little bit," Smith said Sunday. "But at the same time, the areas where we are talented, it's all kind of snowballing a little bit."

At his disposal, Smith has Lavonte David, Gerald McCoy, Alterraun Verner, Mark Barron and Dashon Goldson to name a few. Three of the franchise's last four first-round picks have been spent on defensive talent, and the Bucs went with a cornerback, Johnthan Banks, with their second-round pick in 2013 after spending a first-rounder on Darrelle Revis.

Perhaps their struggles can be attributed to a lack of depth in other places and a quarterback that is still in development. That being said, that is still a boatload of talent to be complaining about.

We recap all the Week 6 action on a jaunty edition of the "Around The NFL Podcast." Find more Around The NFL content on NFL NOW.

repeating the mistakes of the past. His GM will keep spending picks on defensive players to the detriment of the rest of the team.

I didn't know

Anyway, I was listening to a telecast this weekend where Romeo Crennel said the era of zone coverage has ended.

I think that's more of it than anything. Everybody's got a game plan to attack it now as a standard package. You need the guy that's coming up with the next thing that people aren't ready for.

With great personnel, you can make any defense work.

But if you're able to out-scheme people, you can make up for your lack of personnel. Lovie doesn't do that. He sticks with what he does.

That was the thing that made the old "46" defense great. All those players were awesome and nobody knew what the hell that defense was.
