Cris Carter on ESPN calling it a racially motivated event and an attempt by the commisoner to come down hard on the leagues star White player, showing the black players that he doesnt just pick on them. I agree it is a % of the reason this thing is where it is at.

Cris Carter is a jackass. The next insightful thing he says will be his first.

There may a bit of merit to that theory, but at the end of the day, him coming down that hard over a really trivial matter should be more distressing to players who all know that all teams (& most players) cheat. I think the reality is that Goodell is tired of being seen as Kraft's boy.

And getting his ass pounded in federal court...or even by an old commissioner undercutting him in the Bountygate joke.
