He said Fouts was "the greatest competitor". Which is something nice you say about someone when you can't say "greatest player".

Chuck Daly called Bill Lambier the greatest competitor. Do you think he was saying Lambier was the greatest Center?

Was Michael Jordan the greatest competitor at basketball of all-time? That answers your question.

A Hall of Fame coach called Bill Lambier the greatest competitor. That didn't make it so.

So why would a Hall of Fame coach calling Dan Fouts the greatest competitor make it true?

I'll answer your question, if you answer mine on Jordan.

What question?

I didn't ask if Jordan was the greatest competitor.

I think you can only be in the conversation as greatest player at a position if you were considered the greatest competitor at that position. That said, likening the greatest competitor in Jordan as greatest player of all time works. It works similarly for Fouts at QB.

I dont like when people say Jordan was a great competitor. He is more like a spoiled brat. It made him great, but he wants to win eveything and wants everything. His wants go well beyond basketball. So, as far as a competitor, yes, he was the hardest competing athlete....but he competes at everything in life. I watched as much of Jordan as anyone from courtside, I cant tell you all the shit he said to so many people, I would need to dictate to sini the list for a year!! Fans, players, refs, coaches, owners, GM's...everyone got shit on by Mike.

Jordan is the GOAT, end that story.

So then you agree with Chuck Daly that Bill Lambier was one of the best players of all time.

First let me repeat that I don't dispute that Brady is in the discussion for GOAT. I am also somewhat of a fan (not a Patriot or Brady hater). That said: Brady has been in the league since 2000. How many of those years could you definitively say he was the best QB in the league?

I would put Bird in the conversation for greatest competitor and GOAT. Kobe puts him in his top five. The Celtics, along with the Pistons, were the only two teams Jordan had trouble with.

If the game were on the line, who would you rather have shooting the ball? That's why they made a video game with the two on Sega Genesis long ago.

Definitely. Cutler can throw farther with his left arm, so he is better.

Thank you for proving my point that ability alone to does not make a player great. Competitiveness (WTW) and intelligence are also necessary, qualities that Cutler lacks, yet ones Fouts had no equal in according to Walsh.

Last comment to mop up this conversation from my end on Fouts vs. Brady.

Fouts' record of single season passing yards per game (320.3 set in '82) stood for 30 years, before Brady eclipsed it in 2011. It took Brady 11 years to break that record in a different era in football (and he only did it once), when in that same season it was Brees, not Brady, that threw for the most yards per game at 342.

Name one record of Brady's that will stand for 30 years??

:)

No, he's not. More athletic does not mean more talented.

Since Brady doesn't hold any individual passing records that will last or any passing records at all, nor has the #2 GOAT HC called him the greatest competitor at QB, I rest my case Your Honor.

He throws farther.

That's enough for Rube.
