Ron Rivera is a failure

Cam Newton choked in the biggest game of his life

Eli hates Peyton and wanted him to lose.

Cam Newton won't dive for a loose ball. Just like Jeff George.

I put more blame on the OC of Carolina, that defense is great but the play calls were really bad.. Cam should have been in the shotgun all game and rolling out or running.

Carolina has a tough defense but a very soft offense...Cam, Olson, Ginn, Stewart...all soft players

I learned that the overall product on the field is getting worse. The NFL still can't get its own rules correct, or so it seems.

I am liking the NFL less and less. I have no reason to follow any team or watch any game except the Bears, as I do not do fantasy football. I realize I am in the minority in this stance, and I'm ok with that. I find myself watching more the PBA on ESPN if the Bears do not have a noon kick, and the past couple of season I have only flipped on the Bears to check the score. People seem to love love love football, but the league really does some shitty things on and off the field.

http://deadspin.com/gary-kubiak-was-act ... 1757718771

At least twice during the Super Bowl broadcast, Jim Nantz relayed an interesting fact to the audience: With Denver’s win, head coach Gary Kubiak—who backed up John Elway for nine seasons—became the first person to ever win the Super Bowl as a head coach for the same team he played for.

An interesting fact, but one that Nantz (or more likely, Nantz’s research assistant) got wrong. The first person to ever win the Super Bowl as a head coach for the same team he played for was Oakland Raiders legend Tom Flores. Flores quarterbacked the Raiders for six seasons, before coaching them to victory in Super Bowls XV and XVII.

Kubiak isn’t even the second coach to achieve the feat. Mike Ditka led the Chicago Bears and their famed 46 defense to a win in Super Bowl XX, twenty years after his stint as a Bears tight end. Coincidentally, both Flores’s and Ditka’s final season playing for the team they would eventually coach to Super Bowl victory was 1966, the season of Super Bowl I.

What Nantz might’ve meant to say is that Kubiak is the first head coach to win a Super Bowl with the same team he went to the Super Bowl with as a player, which is true. Kubiak was on the roster for the Broncos defeats in Super Bowls XXI, XXII, and XXIV, throwing seven passes total in those three games.

Ditka's win was not a Super Bowl

I never said it was, RPB. I just stated how I feel. I'm certainly not the only one who feels this way, as wdelany posted something very similar this morning in a different thread. I also understand I am clearly in the minority with those thoughts.

My original post from yesterday was I heard Nantz make a false statement. Did someone else say something similar?

I thought he meant that the person played in the super bowl for the same team he coached. So Ditka and Flores never played in a super bowl for their teams.

It may not have come out that way though.

Flores was a Raiders QB and coached 2 Raider SB wins,so either way he was wrong.

I like Jim Nantz though. I think he is a lot more listenable than most other announcers.

I agree. For all of the hype that the NFL receives, Super Bowl games are overwhelmingly bad. I can count about 5 Super Bowl games that i'd consider to be well played. If these are the two best teams, then the product stinks.
