Good deal from Philly's perspective. Butler is an upgrade over Covington and Saric is replaceable too

GarPax raped Thibs on that trade last year, wow.

Remember when GarPax were crucified for the whole minutes thing?

Well seems like they were correct. Butler took a parting shot at Thibs on his way out the door.

According to Sam "the Man" Smith they were really 2 picks and the right swap 2 others. Not really 4 first rounders as has been reported.

No because Houston was only actually giving up 2 picks.

Not a Butler fan but its a good deal for Philly. Covington wasn't much of shit and had a bloated contract that had to be moved. I like Saric but he wasn't anywhere near the player that they touted him to be while in Europe.

Butler will be undoubtedly the 2 or 3rd best player on Philly's team and hopefully he accepts it. If he keeps up shit let him walk at the endof the year.

If that talk of "whose team" shit starts as it has in other places let him walk. Its Embiid and Simmons team and hopefully he respects that.

And you're mad as usual. Good to see that Elton Brand saw it the way that i saw it.

The Fultz to the bench to start the 2nd half thing is dumb. Philly's biggest problem is that no one can create a shot other than Simmons if Fultz isn't in. Redick and Covington are one dimensional players and so is Saric. Dumb move.

wow, terrible trade for Minny. Couldnt even pull one first round pick.

Great trade for Philly. Though they were talented, they didnt have a veteran star that could put them over the top in the Eastern conference. Now they do.

The Wolves could have Lauri right now, and Dunn, and maybe even Lavine if they wanted to pay him. Jimmy is a franchise killer.

Why include Patton in the deal? That Miami deal was clearly the best. Looks like they just wanted to get rid of him

If Butler doesn't continue being a cancer the 76ers should be great

Don't know about the fit, particularly with Simmons. Butler likes to handle the ball a lot and Simmons is the undisputed 1 on this team. Butler also is a bit of a Ball stopper. They had to make the deal but i don't know if it makes them the favorite in the East.

Sixers will be fine regardless. They got Jimmy for free. If he's a bitch he's gone and they are no worse for wear.

Embiid is their #1 and Butler could be 2a or 2b but it's in the Sixers best interest for him to be a #3. Based on what the Sixers gave up I believe Butler is nothing more than a 1 year rental.

I think as CB said you take a flyer on him and if it doesn't work you cut bait.

If he accepts being a No. 3 it can work but if he attempts to compete with their young stars then will be a problem.

Embiid and Simmons are more competitive players than either Towns or Wiggins so that won't be an issue.

Also unlike in Minnesota Butler won't be viewed as the savior. Philly is an established team already.

You're definitely not questioning their drive. The East should be really fun this year. I like Toronto and Philadelphia because there aren't enough balls in Boston despite Stevens being a really good coach.

Good, I'm tired of staying up until late watching the Wolves on the west coast. Going to be a lot easier to watch Jimmy now. 76ers winning the East.

What are the Timberwolves getting out of the deal? Is any of that deal even usable for a good team?

Covington is the type of defensive player Thibs loves, and Saric is a good three point shooter though he has started slowly this year.

Both could help if they play to their ceilings. That is no certainty.

Tried to tell Vegan over a year ago that the East was about to close the gap with the West.

Fultz plays best when he's in the game running point:

Image

Combining Simmons with Fultz or Simmons with Shamet (Sixers other PG) or Fultz with Shamet, not as good as Simmons or Fultz (above) as lone primary ball-handler on the court:

Image

Sixers were finally able to win on the road thanks to playing Fultz more at PG:
