Not a Butler fan but its a good deal for Philly. Covington wasn't much of shit and had a bloated contract that had to be moved. I like Saric but he wasn't anywhere near the player that they touted him to be while in Europe.

Butler will be undoubtedly the 2 or 3rd best player on Philly's team and hopefully he accepts it. If he keeps up shit let him walk at the endof the year.

If that talk of "whose team" shit starts as it has in other places let him walk. Its Embiid and Simmons team and hopefully he respects that.

Don't know about the fit, particularly with Simmons. Butler likes to handle the ball a lot and Simmons is the undisputed 1 on this team. Butler also is a bit of a Ball stopper. They had to make the deal but i don't know if it makes them the favorite in the East.

Sixers will be fine regardless. They got Jimmy for free. If he's a bitch he's gone and they are no worse for wear.

Embiid is their #1 and Butler could be 2a or 2b but it's in the Sixers best interest for him to be a #3. Based on what the Sixers gave up I believe Butler is nothing more than a 1 year rental.

I think as CB said you take a flyer on him and if it doesn't work you cut bait.

If he accepts being a No. 3 it can work but if he attempts to compete with their young stars then will be a problem.

Embiid and Simmons are more competitive players than either Towns or Wiggins so that won't be an issue.

Also unlike in Minnesota Butler won't be viewed as the savior. Philly is an established team already.

What are the Timberwolves getting out of the deal? Is any of that deal even usable for a good team?

Covington is the type of defensive player Thibs loves, and Saric is a good three point shooter though he has started slowly this year.

Both could help if they play to their ceilings. That is no certainty.
