Damn, what's taking so long? I didn't expect it to drag out like this... Is Gooden the only person who signed?

Wow. Wow.

Suddenly, Deng's deal doesn't look so bad.

Deng will never be as good as Gay. There were many teams willing to offer Gay a max deal. The Bulls bid against themselves by $15M. Imagine how easier it would be to keep or trade Deng if he made $9M this season? They would be a $1M away from being able to offer 2 max deals. They did the same with Nocioni.

4/$50 vs. 5/$80 though .... is he going to be that much better? I don't know Rudy's game that well, but that's a significant difference.

Deng's only 25 - a year older than Gay.

It's a max deal. He was going to get it from another team (less money). I think he is a max player.

Keep in mind that due to the NBA's current moratorium, free agent player signings can't be official until one week from today, July 8th.

Shark that has been said in this thread and every other thread for about a month. This really isn't breaking news.

Wait- so you think Rudy Gay deserves a max deal? Wow

(and btw I'm laughing at both of you)

Rudy Gay was going to get a max deal from someone. Obviously not for the same money. I would rather have Rudy Gay going forward than Deng or JJ. Just another reason why Rondo's agent should be investigated for a crime.

I heard up here yesterday that the Gooden contract is basically a 3 year / 16 or 17 million dollar deal, there is a club option on the last 2 years of the deal. Which makes it a much better contract.

The New York Knicks and Amare Stoudemire continued to move closer to an agreement to bring the free agent forward to Madison Square Garden next season, but sources told ESPN that the deal has yet to be struck.

A person involved in the talks told the New York Times that the Knicks have offered Stoudemire a five-year, $100 million deal -- the maximum allowed -- and are waiting to talk to him in person to complete the deal, which can't be signed until July 8 at the earlier. The meeting could come as soon as Sunday, the Times reported.

Earlier, Yahoo! Sports and the New York Daily News reported that Stoudemire and the Knicks had the "framework of the deal" in place. Both Yahoo! and the Daily News reported the deal could be finalized on Friday, though Stoudemire isn't scheduled to meet with Knicks officials until later this weekend.

Stoudemire and his representatives broke off negotiations with the Suns on Friday.

"It wasn't the right deal," Stoudemire's agent, Happy Walters, told the Arizona Republic.

"He'll be sad to leave his teammates and the city he loves but it's time to move on," Walters said.

The Suns agreed to a four-year, $18 million deal with free-agent forward Hakim Warrick on Friday.

The Milwaukee Bucks have verbally agreed to a five-year, $39 million deal with free-agent guard John Salmons, according to league sources. Sources say that the last year of the deal is only partially guaranteed.

Salmons exercised a player opt-out on his contract last week. The Bucks responded by making deals for Corey Maggette and Chris Douglas-Roberts on draft day. It was widely assumed that the two deals were a signal the team was moving on.

But this development suggests the Bucks remain serious about putting together a team that could make another run at the playoffs.

The Bucks on Thursday came to a verbal agreement with free agent Drew Gooden worth $32 million over five years.

By locking up Gooden and Salmons, the Bucks have 11 players under contract and will be a back-up point guard away from finishing their summer's work.

Sources say the Bucks are determined not to take a step back after winning the sixth playoff seed in the East last season. The team believes it has two young stars in Brandon Jennings and Andrew Bogut and are determined to surround them with veterans who are happy and willing to take a supporting role.

The Bucks, aiming for something in the neighborhood of 45 to 50 wins this season, believe that Gooden provides them with some much-needed rebounding in the paint and that the combination of Maggette, Salmons and Douglas-Roberts gives them potent scorers on the wings for 2010-11.

Then next summer, when Michael Redd's $18 million comes off the books, the team will be in a position to add another piece or two to the puzzle.

Chad Ford covers the NBA for ESPN.com.

Per Jason Goff's official Twitter page:

Headed to Lumen for MY meetings.

My sources tell me this means the Bulls have signed Shaquille O'Neal to a max deal worth $120 million.

That's it?

That's pretty cheap for a guy who should have been starting in front of Joakim Noah...

What are they going to do with Biedrins? They gave up on him quick after his injury. Hell they give up on a lot of good players

Beasley is a better player but Miller can shoot when healthy.

Which is what you need on that team right now.

So with only Miller and Chalmers under contract right now does the big 3 basically "pick" the rest of the team they want?

Riley will do most of it. He gets a shout out for this.

Ya but i'm sure these guys will have a say so too.

This is as clean of a slate you could ask for, they have the opportunity to build the championship team from scratch and if and when they fail it will be more embarrassing than Lebron quitting in the last game in a Cavs uniform.
