This game looks a lot different than Christmas. Wish Andrew Wiggins was never traded for Love.

Haven't been watching. Been asleep but Irving has already proven what needed to be proven.

He had 17 and missed portions of the 3rd and the entirety of the 4th. Guess that qualifies in your biased world as not doing shit. I've never heard you say that when Butler or Curry has a clunker game.

Irving has played lights out the last 6 times they've played Golden State. He has 2 GW's mixed in. Nothing left to prove. If he has real not perceived terrible games then it's a conversation.

 @ "he has nothing left to prove"

He's what, 24? LeBron would tell you even he still has something to prove. That's a ridiculous statement.

The Curry debate is over. He really didn't have a terrible game. You're exaggerating.

Just pointing out that Stroh clearly and unequivocally outplayed him. Just like if you compare their numbers over the past few seasons Steph dominates him. You are right, the debate is over.

LTG in an earlier thread took last year's playoffs for his proof.

Now a one game is too short a sample...

I will take Irving's previous 5 over last night's one. I didn't see the game. I will concede last night. Curry is done on that one. Feel free to continue stat gazing however. It is so obvious at this point. However there was a deafening silence on the matter after last year's finals. Now it is only a small sample size. From games 3-7 he thorougly dominated Curry. He is also having a better season now. I'm sure you can find a stat that suggests otherwise.

You seem to distort reality a lot on this board. I'm not sure why. There wasn't a deafening silence after the Finals last year. All of us that said Steph was better admitted he got throughly outplayed in that series. The point you continue to miss is that if you take their overall careers instead of a 7 game sample size, Steph is miles ahead of Kyrie.

They both seem incapable of being franchise players that are capable enough to lead a team of maybe one additional semi-star and career role players deep into the playoffs.

Probably not but I would argue that's not a great comparison since the entire roster would look different if the franchise guy is a PF instead of a PG. Put 2016 Curry on the 2011 Bulls and they are probably in the Finals. Replace Wade in 2006 with him, same thing. Jason Kidd and those Nets teams, same thing.

LBJ shut Rose down, and he'd shut Curry down as well. I'll give you Wade. Not sure about Nets (the East sucked at that time anyway).

Rose and Curry have completely opposite styles. The Bulls offense depended on Rose beating his guy off the dribble. Curry would've been 10x harder for him to guard and he would've torched that Heat team.

If Curry isn't a franchise guy you're basically saying there's only 5-6 franchise guys in the last 20 years.

This list confuses me. If you're conceding the point I made about Curry and Wade and Kidd, it would stand to reason that if they are on here he should be too.

Also, AI is one of my favorite players ever but it's crazy to me that you have him on the list but not Chris Paul, Steph Curry, or Russell Westbrook.

Forgot about Paul but he has never even been to a finals yet, and likely will never make one. Got to see Westbrook carry a team into the playoffs for a few years by himself - I am sure he can.

I think Curry would make it to the finals by replacing Wade in 2004, but that's more because of Shaq. I think Wade is better than Curry if we compare peak to peak, or in Curry's case, his current status. I'm not sure about Curry vs Kidd. I've only put Kidd on here because he's carried a team of unremarkable talent to the finals. Curry has a lot of help.

Steph Curry has had a hard time in each of the last two finals series. Derrick Rose was a much tougher cover when he was right than Curry. He frankly looked terrible. Absolutely terrible. It's not that he missed shots he looked terrible. People had to fabricate injuries in order to justify how bad he played. The perception of him has changed greatly after what Irving did to him. Irving is also playing better this year too.

The only fabricating going on here my friend are the two sentences above. You're better than that.

I don't think it's fair to eliminate someone from the discussion based on not making the Finals. You're basically saying a 15 game stretch says more about Dirk than 15 years of playing. That 2011 run is one of the most memorable playoff runs I've ever seen from any athlete in any sport, but if it didn't happen it would be tough to say Dirk wasn't a franchise guy the past 15 years. Chris Paul is easily the best PG of the last 15-20 years. He has to be on the list.

But if we are using your Finals standard, Curry and Paul Pierce clearly have the individual accolades and playoff success to be on that list.

I know you hate stats because they don't often agree with you, but it's hard to take you seriously when you say Irving is playing better than Curry this year. There's no statistical evidence to support that claim and while I'm not going to pretend I've seen every game of both teams, of the ones I have seen the eye test doesn't support it either.

Irving has dominated Curry to the point where they can't put him on Irving anymore. If you don't go off of head to head then what can you go off? If kills the guy the vast majority of the time they match up then he is clearly the better player. If he guards Curry yet Curry doesn't guard him then he is the better player.

I can't help it if people vastly overrated the guy. That's on you not me.

Westbrook killed him head to head also.

You can't keep basing evals off of what guys do against the Sacramento Kings. For the money he was pimped and Klay could not bail him out with good defense this time.
