The dunk contests haven't gotten any worse. It's just that, like the HR derby, it's an event that appeals to children. Of course it gets more boring as you get older. I don't think I've watched one in 5+ years at least.

Sure, agreed, I guess. But if we were 15 this shit would be awesome. If LeBron, Durant, Kawhi, etc were all in it and did an amazing job it would still be boring as shit. It's simply not that interesting to watch someone dunk on nobody.

Kinda has to though. Otherwise its repetitiveness is too quickly and easily exposed.

What they oughta do is maybe have, say, a team of four NBA players vs. a team of four Streetball guys ... maybe the Streetballers would embarrass the pros into actually trying again. The NBA would, for many reasons - rational and irrational alike - wouldn't do this of course.
