Sources told ESPN.com that the Kings and Pelicans, while Sunday's All-Star Game in New Orleans was playing out, came to terms on a trade that will send Cousins and swingman Omri Casspi to the All-Star hosts in exchange for Buddy Hield, Tyreke Evans, Langston Galloway and both a 2017 first- and second-round pick.

Lookout now :lol:Plus I just unfollowed Adrian Wojnarowski he's no Nas

So you're saying there's a chance?

If they can get a decent coach then we might be able to see what that combo can do.

Cousins is due $200M and has a ton of baggage. Butler is locked into a Chris Sale-esque contract and, in comparison, a choir boy.

Butler's value in a trade should be higher than Cousins.

Paxson turned down a Salesque deal, Jimmy is maxed out now because Pax is a fuckin dummy. I believe Butler is a FA a year after Cousins, both will get the new max at that time.

Does this mean the Bulls will finally get the Sacremento pick this year?

I thought the Sac pick was top 10 protected, so no.

Sacramento is currently 11th from the bottom in the NBA.

That doesn't sound right, but assuming that's true..they just lost their best player and will probably have the worst record or close to it from here on out.

The Kings are currently 2 games out of the 8th seed in the West.

Gentry's a fine coach. Did a really nice job in Phoenix. Beat the Spurs in 2010 (something D'Antoni couldn't do) to reach the WCF against the Lakers.

Cousins is a FA after next season. Butler isn't a free agent for another 2 or 3 years. Big difference between $40M/year and $20M/yr in todays NBA.

Butler will be getting paid like a bench player for the next couple years.

Does this make the Pelicans good? Cousins seems like a guy who will pile up stats, but you don't really trust him to be a winner. And even with these guys with that team in Golden State it does not matter for awhile.

They will be top 5 in the West by the end of next season. This trade instantly makes them better.

I'll disagree with all of that. We'll see. At first glance it looks like Hakeem/Ralph but I'm not sure those two will work well together in a guard oriented league.

Anthony Davis is a four. Ralph and Akeem were both Centers. Jrue Holiday is a solid guard also. This team should creep into the playoffs.

They won't because the coach sucks.

Strongly disagree. The Suns season you mentioned is his head coaching career highlight. Everywhere else he's been dumped in three seasons or less. I don't even think he's had a season record above 500 after coaching a full season. He's coached nearly 800 games and won 46%. It'd be a stretch to even call him mediocre. I don't think "fine" applies.

"Bad coaches can't make the playoffs in the NBA" is a pretty bad assertion.

I was more so responding to LTG's top 5 comment. To your point, yes bad coaches stumble into the playoffs. Hell one of the most incompetent coaches in the league might find himself in the playoffs in Chicago. But Gentry has made the playoffs twice in thirteen seasons as head coach. He's been fired mid-season more times than he's qualified for the playoffs, so him missing out again wouldn't be that surprising.
