Even Magic acknowledges Kobe was better.

It took three quick seconds to toss Duncan.

And yes,I am taking Wilt over Russell & his HOF filled rosters all day every day. The man could high jump almost 7 feet, pick em up and put em down and with a straight face talk about 20,000 wins that matter.

Nobody wants to talk about the 1969 season?

The roster argument doesn't really hold up post 1965. Sorry.

What made the Celtics was that they didn't have better athletes they had players with better basketball IQ

I'd replace Duncan, Kobe, and Bird with Robertson, Russell, and Shaq.

Wilt would get dominated by Luc Longley.

Agreed, Kobe is easily first to go, then Bird then Wilt.

Seriously, though...

Wilt averaged 50 points and 26 rebounds in 1962. Are we really saying he could average that today? I'm not saying he's not an all-time great or that he wouldn't be great today. But we have to admit that his competition allowed for some of those numbers. Otherwise, he was an alien sent to dominate the game of basketball and no one in history is even remotely close to him.

Adjusted for pace of play and 40 mpg instead 48+ mpg, those numbers would probably be about 30 and 15 today. Still awesome.

I think the MPG and pace of play factors are largely overlooked. JORR is right about his competition. Like Nas said, there were like 8 other teams. Almost all had good centers. Russell Westbrook's current season would look something like 45 ppg, 15 rpg, 15 apg if they had the same pace of play today they had in 1968.
