The answer is necessarily Oden because he plays center.

I'm going with Penny. His injury destroyed his would be HoF career. Grant Hill still had a good career after his injury. Both would have been top 10 to 25 players of all time.

I don't think McGrady belongs on this list. He was already in his prime when the injuries came. He might have lost maybe 2-3 productive seasons but his career outlook would not have changed much IMO.

Len Bias had a worse injury than any of these people.

greg oden was a 19 year old trapped in a 48 year old man's body. he would've never had a career.

Sabonis was supposedly better than Jordan in his prime so it has to be him.

To me, the answer is clearly Grant Hill. Agree w/ DB that Mcgrady had prime years. I loved Penny, and he was a great player, but I sometimes think Penny was a bit overloved because his game was so smooth and pretty. He also played on a great team with Shaq taking a lot of doubles. Hill was already averaging 25, 6, and 7 at a young age.

McGrady easily had the best career of those guys. It's not really close.

That must be based on feelings because it's not based on numbers.

This.

Hill was LBJ without the muscle - his numbers up until the injury are very similar.

Based purely on talent. Hill would have been a top 10 player of all-time and Penny would have been a top 25 player. McGrady is pretty much where he would have been. That's somewhere around a top 80 player.

Like DB said T-Mac shouldn't even be on here - his career wasn't cut short as early as the careers of Penny, Hill, and maybe Roy were. I have no idea what Oden is doing here - didn't he flop and/or get injured from day one?

Jordan came back from injury. Maybe he is the right answer. He just didn't suck at coming back from injury.

Oden was a monster in college and he was drafted over Durant. I agree McGrady shouldn't be on the list.

The question was who would have had a better career if they didn't get injured.

Oden was not a monster in college. He was a project and gained notoriety for shooting free throws left-handed. He actually did well in the National Championship against Noah, but I think he only averaged around 10 or 12 points a game.

Oh, okay, I just noticed that. There's not enough evidence to make a case for Oden. It would have to be Hill or Hardaway. I'd say they're pretty similar.

Not true. He was coming off an injury and still averaged close to 20 and 10 with like 4 blocks. All while playing with his opposite hand.

Well, we're both off by four because he averaged 15.9. He did play with his left hand, but he wasn't a monster. Can't call a 7-footer who averages 16 and almost 10 a monster. I was never high on the guy. He always seemed slow, methodical, and hesitant.

Yeah, Oden's injuries derailed what would have been one hell of a career. Him and Dwight going at it in their mid-20's could have been one of those all time great rivalries. I also think Oden was willing, and serious about becoming the best basketball player he could be. Unlike Dwight mugging for the camera, and acting like a spoiled child throughout his career.
