On the other hand the Celtics can extract more in a trade with any prospective partner.

I don't think any player better than Butler is rumored to be on the market.

Not sure if they want him. Why waste this year if they wanted him? Theyre not getting past LBJ without Butler Ostensibly they could have had him at midyear.

Maybe Boston did want him this year. But the Bulls didn't pull the trigger because they wanted to be assured of what draft pick they would be getting. Now that they know it's #1 they'll do it.

I understand it. I mean Boston could have fallen out of the top 3 with the ping pong balls. So Pax didn't want to take that risk at the trading deadline.

My guess is it's as simple as them disagreeing on the proper value for Butler.

Bulls traded Deng for a 2nd round pick because the Kings weren't bad enough.

With the team he's put together and now getting the #1 pick, Danny Ainge has to be among the best gms in basketball if he wasn't already

I am not really sure on who is the top GM. I do see though that there are ways for an NBA GM to avoid or get out of basketball hell by thinking and acting.

Not sure who he's going to pick but he's set the team up nicely, he probably signs Gordon Hayword and win the east next year. He got Brad Stephens n we got Fred Hoiberg smh

Spurs, Thunder, Warriors, and Celtics probably have the top front offices as of now.

i think lorenzo ball could be a beautiful disaster in LA. he'll make them relevant for all the wrong reasons, i think.

it'd be hilarious if he fell to the suns or something.

If Boston keeps the pick they are picking Fulz.

Unless LeBron gets hurt or Boston trades for Durant or Kawhi Boston isn't winning the East next year.

I'm gonna be happy either way. If he's great then I won't mind since he is a very unique player. If he's terrible, him continuing the Lakers 4+ year trainwreck with LaVar Ball in the middle of it all could be great theater.

I can't really see a scenario where he doesn't end up a Laker though.

I bet we don't even make it to game 1 of the 2017 season before LaVar Ball publicly criticizes Lonzo's teammates, coaches, and/or Magic Johnson and the front office. I can't wait

It's ok the bulls should try to get the #1 pick in a year that has a LeBron James type player available.

I agree. After hearing LaVar Ball saying how he wants his kid to only play for the Lakers it would give me great joy, if even only for a few moments, to see the Lakers pass on him.

people waiting on Lonzo to bust out of the NBA are going to be waiting a long time, he's a stud.

At what juncture will it be ok to declare him a bust? Doesn't possess any real NBA talent. Basketball version of a 4A player.

I like hot takes as much as the next guy but we should probably wait until he actually plays a NBA game first

No, I think LTG, who has seen Lonzo Ball play at least 1 time in college, has more than enough knowledge to make that call.

I retract my previous comment and based on LTG's insight I too am ready to call Lonzo a bust.

Isn't it also too early too declare him a stud? Isn't it also too early to take shots at the people who may not think he is a stud? The father rightly or wrongly has put a bullseye on this kids back with all of the damn self promotion. The kid unfortunately will have to cash the damn check. He struggled in two games against Kentucky's B rate NBA talented guard. They are going to murder the kid. You have to respect the league.

Ainge could've saved the Horford money and signed Blake Griffin and Gordon Hayward this summer. If he wanted Butler or George too, he could then send the Bulls/Pacers any combination of the #1 pick, Crowder ($6.8 m), Bradley ($8.8 m), Zeller ($8 m), Smart ($4.6 m).

14 pts, 7assists and 6 boards on the road in a win vs the #1 team in the country is struggling? Ok that's a new one.

And I'm sure you watched that game, too.

D'Aaron Fox, who might go as high as #4 in the draft, is a B prospect? Ok.
