Mike Brown is undefeated during this year's playoffs.

hot take. Anyone with eyes could tell you that NBA coaches are largely irrelevant. Teams could easily be run by the players and get the same results.

Steve Dahl used to joke that the only reason they needed coaches was to sign the team into the hotel .

2nd coach to replace Kerr and essentially not miss a beat. While Walton was an unknown quantity Brown isn't. He was inept as hell.

Overrating of College coaches is even worse.

Now that's where you are dead wrong.

College coaches have a massive effect on the game, for better or worse.

But how would you know, you admittedly don't even watch CBB. Ass talker.

I think you can see truly great college coaches have a big impact on a game. Guys like Mike Krzyzewski, Tom Izzo, and Fred Hoiberg have single-handedly won games at that level thanks to their tactical brilliance.

i only really stopped watching two years ago. I still watch occasionally. A bunch of guys overcoaching and thinking they are god's gift to the game while paying for would be pros each and every year. You can have that shit. NBA coaches are much better.

I can remember when coach K took a leave of absence the year the talent level was down. He was getting his ass handed to him and all of a sudden he became fatigued or whatever.

Agreed. The level of strategy in college is far superior to the NBA.

How could anyone not think that they are watching one of the great basketball minds at work whenever they watch Bill Self coach?

He was better than Hoiberg.

He's better at running the bag than Hoiberg. He isn't a better coach. Gets bounced every year by inferior coaches with inferior talent.

I agree. Lots of great coaches in college. Glad we could come to an agreement.

I've watched Duke basketball since I was a kid. Coach K is not an offensive mind. Never has been. He won when he had the talent. Takes no talent to run pick and roll, and spread sets. He ran a lot of high/low with Alarie, Ferry, Laettner as well.

Yep. Gets 3-4 McDonald's All Americans a year and runs them against guys that will be working at the local jiffy lube once their career is over. He doesn't even schedule non conference Road games. Either you're playing at Cameron indoor or a neutral site (typically home crowd).

Coaching matters. In this particular matchup, I don't think there's really an advantage either way, plus you have veteran teams who have been playing in the same system for years, except for Durant.

Don't these elite guys all prove their bones when they're coming up with inferior talent? When Self was at Tulsa you'd have thought he was the second coming. Hoiberg could have been a great college coach & won MANY games with grossly inferior talent & halftime adjustments during his brief time.

Talent far outweighs coaching. It's not that it doesn't matter it's that people overrate it. There is too much of a tendency to blame coaching for everything. Sometimes guys just aren't good.

It isn't overrated. The Warriors just have an all star team. That being said Pop probably beats Brown with a healthy Leonard.

You can t know that for sure. When you say that they have All Star team you're validating what I'm saying. An All Star team makes even the incompetent Brown look like a Hall of Fame coach.

Of course it does. Most teams don't have an all star team. How good is Ron Adams?

Thank you for making my point that coaching has greater effect on CBB than it does NBA.

Agree 100%. Coach K isn't one of the better coaches in CBB. Extremely overrated. In fact, his coaching in the 1999 title game was possibly the worst exhibition in coaching I've ever seen.

No it doesn't. Guys overcoaching is never a good thing and if you think the point about coach is relevant then you're an idiot.
