GarPax and Hoiberg have done a tremendous job of lowering my expectations, so I didn't expect them to compete in the next few years. I still don't. The only real difference is now I will be watching a 20-25 win team with no good players over the next few years instead of a 40-45 win team with one great player. I realize that's the same thing to the Championships Are All That Matters crowd. It's not the same thing to me.

also, with a tanking/rebuilding plan, you kinda need hope and you kinda need at least 1 player to build around. who is that ? this soon to be bust draft pick ? Cameron Payne ? There is absolutely nothing to give you even a glimmer of hope for the future. I can stomach a 20 win team if they have a solid plan and at least some young players to get excited about

Right. Rick doesn't seem to want to acknowledge that people are pissed about this specific trade, not just simply the fact that they traded Butler to rebuild.

I agree it looks like a dumb trade.

That wasn't a potshot. I thought you were a self described casual NBA fan.

I post almost daily about the NBA on a sports forum and I can name a minimum of 9 players on all 30 teams. I mean....I guess I'm casual compared to Adrian Wojnarowski? (I also know who Adrian Wojnarowski is.)

I wish we were having this conversation at a bar. I believe there is zero chance you could name 9 guys on the 76ers, Kings, or Hornets without Googling it first.

But fair enough, I guess I was wrong. Like I said, I thought you described yourself that way.

Let me revise it to 7. 9 would tax me on several teams.

But I mean...how many casual NBA fans are naming Robert Covington as an example?

I just can't watch the TNT Thursday double header every week. I'm casual in that regard.

I have no idea how to gauge was a casual fan would or wouldn't know. I guess they might not know Covington. Every NBA fan probably does.

We need to play "Who he play for?" with IMU next time we're all out.

I wonder if Taj Gibson is next on Thibs' list.

I loved Kobe and cheered for Willie Mays in a Wizards jersey but I will always bleed red and black.

If they didn't sign Gorgui Deng to an extension (4 years, $64 million) at the beginning of last season the Wolves would have enough money to sign a max guy. Imagine Towns, Wiggins, Butler, and Blake Griffin. They still have a lot of money though after waiving Pekovic.

Blake Griffin is trash. Some dumb GM will overpay for his services this summer.

Blake is good when he's on the court. Health would be the only concern in signing him to a big deal.

They have over $20M to spend and if they dump Aldrich it would be $30M.

He's overrated and soft. Some team will throw him a max deal this summer and regret it.

He's still somewhat useful, but about five years away from being signed by the Bulls as part of their youth recruitment in 2022.
