This guy can keep all of his Willy Wonka golden tickets/draft picks. You've got to pay a 5 foot 8 Isaiah Thomas a ridiculous amount of money after this season and you've got a stupid Al Horford contract on the books until 2020. This summer was the time to strike. History tells us you suck at drafting so stop pretending you're a genius. You're too scared to make a move.

Great post. Kevin Pritchard syndrome. We saw how that worked out for him

That's why I thought Ainge fucked up by not drafting Fox, he's the best player in the draft and he replaces Thomas... I'd never resign Isiah Thomas. There's nothing you can do about Horfords contract, every team has a bad contract or two.

Lets face facts, if his butt buddy McHale doesn't give away Garnett for next to nothing, Ainge is an unremarkable apparatchik.

He's been solid. He turned this team around fast.

Nate Silver‏ @NateSilver538 So Chris Paul, Paul George and Jimmy Butler were traded and the best player anyone received in exchange was... Victor Oladipo? @celtics

nick wright @getnickwright Folks need to re-read what "sources close to Ainge" said about Boogie, Butler & PG13 trades would take & then look at the actual trades.

 I'm already seeing Celtics fans who want to trade Thomas and blow it all up now. It will be even better if they don't get Hayward.

No Heyward would make them have to trade for Marshmelo.

Is Oladipo better than Lavine? I don't think he is

Ainge should think about trading Thomas. He isn't a franchise player

He isn't but how do you value a guy like that when you CP3 and others were traded for half their value?

You look at him as a guy that had a career year and you move him now while he still has value. He also isn't that young and you can't pay him one of those hefty contracts without hindering the franchise.

You bank on him reverting back to the mean.

Yup. He's a nice scorer but if you pay a 5'9" PG that's pushing 31 a 200million dollar deal, you are fucked.

So he didn't want to include these guys in trades for Butler or George BUT now he literally has to trade them to sign Hayward. Hayward isn't nearly as good as Butler or George.

I think I'd rather have Hayward than George but I agree this is crazy. The Bulls should be beating down their door to get Smart and/or Bradley. Perfect guys for a rebuilding team.

what a disaster, zero leverage, only thing he has going for him is many teams will have interest... but with no ability to take on contracts in return how they hell is he supposed to execute a trade unless he wants more draft picks? would agree george and butler >> heyward

It really is. They're really good players but he's lucky if he gets 2nd round picks for them.

Post subject:  Re: Danny Ainge

They should be able to move Smart and Crowder. If they get rid of Bradley too their team didn't even improve at that point. They would have zero backcourt defense. You need a guy like Bradley playing next to Thomas.

They're smart for not trading for George. The Thunder are dumb for giving up two assets for a guy who is definitely playing for the Lakers in 2018-2019.

You think the Cubs would let him go? I don't think the Celtics could afford his contract.

If I have to lose one between Crowder, Smart and Bradley.. Smart is going, then Crowder.. Bradley is the best of that bunch.. Think he fucked up that one and it will bite him in the Ass. Move Smart and jeep Bradley and you win the east.

Suns were interested in Terry Rozier before the season started. Offered a protected first. Ainge demanded an unprotected first. What a pud.

Meh... He prolly knew then Kyrie wasn’t staying.

From everything I’m reading and watching I’d have to say Irving is the biggest problem in that locker room. He is sucking the life out of those young guys.

I was absolutely Killin it on this thread, this last page alone could have landed me a GM job with a team.
