Sources: Boston and Cleveland have agreed in principle to a deal involving PG Kyrie Irving.

I would hope Cleveland insisted on that swapped pick with Brooklyn in next years draft bring included.

This seems like a rare trade where both sides appear to lose. Cavs lose for getting a one year rental of a downgrade at PG and Celtics lose because Ainge sat on his assets for too long and gave more of them up for Irving than what probably would have been necessary for George, Butler, or Cousins (in before the inevitable "but Irving is a winner/killer/greatest PG defender in the league"). If Cleveland gets the Nets pick though they probably come out better.

Woj was just on ESPN saying the trade may be hitting a road block with Cavs requesting Tatum in any trade.

Thomas, Crowder, and the Nets pick is enough right?

Asking for Tatum may be greedy, but I honestly don't blame them with Lebron leaving after next season.

If this deal goes through Cleveland is done. Wont win the East next year. Book it. Boston upgrades at the point and there was no room for Crowder on the wing with Tatum and Brown waiting in the wings. Stick a fork in the Cavs. Ainge is putting a team together that will challenge G.S for years to come.

The Celtics still aren't close to GS

Wouldn't bother me to have 76ers/ Boston running the East for years to come... Or at least until Gar/Pax is fired.

Facing off against Minny in the finals every year.

Philly Boston would take me back to a time when I first began watching the NBA. They used to have some wars. Don't know where Minny fits in though.

If this deal goes through they will challenge G.S. by the 2018-2019 season. Book it. Seriously challenge them also

Finals this year. They can take them next year.

Cleveland still works Boston in the playoffs. Both teams still get worked by Golden State in the finals. Time is a flat circle.

Nope. Not without adding another certified superstar.

We will see but I'm confident about this one. This is a no doubter as long as both teams are healthy.

A no doubter? Come back to reality. GS just destroyed a Cleveland team that destroyed the Celtics. Swapping out Isaiah and Crowder for Kyrie is one small step in closing that talent gap. The gap is still massive though

Destroyed Them? Didn't that series go to 6? That's your idea of destruction I guess. You are swapping Hayward and Irving for Crowder and Thomas. Big upgrades at both spots.Cleveland has also been weakened.

Cleveland Boston went to 6 games.

Lebron still has enough to win the East with this trade.

Cleveland beat Boston 4-1. It wasn't a close or competitive series.

Got that wrong but Boston will have upgraded tremendously provided this trade goes down. Cleveland has the oldest team in the league . They are done if this trade goes through. Thomas is also a bad fit.

This will go down as the greatest off-season in NBA history. And the Warriors won it.

Great move by Celtics. Cavs are toast. BOS not ready to go to war with GS though unless someone else emerges from their young talent.

Boston may have to add a journeyman or 2 at 4/5 slots. They are a bit small up front. They take Cleveland though. This was a game changing move here. A game changer.

I knew he'd fetch more than what the Bulls got for Butler.

Kinda interesting... Kyrie was the first overall pick in the 2011 draft, Isaiah was the last pick

Certainly makes the East more interesting. Cavs/Celtics is going to be a war.
