Starting a thread to discuss the various rookies throughout the season. Last night, Tatum looked bad at the start, but settled in nice and played really well in the 2nd half.

Jordan Bell, the guy the Bulls traded for $3.5 million dollars looked great in limited minutes. 11 minutes played, 8 pts on 4/5 shooting.

I'm pretty pumped for that milos teodosic guy even though he's 30 already. He was fun as hell to watch in the preseason.

Is he gonna start or come off the bench? They brought in Beverly in the CP3 trade.

I think he's coming off the bench to start the year, which makes sense. Let Griffin be your main playmaker with the first team and he can run the second team. Plus I think he's like "worst in the NBA" bad defensively so can't start him right away probably.

Simmons with an 18-10-5 debut.

Smith Jr with 16-3-10

Fultz didn't do much.

John Collins supposedly looked good tonight.

Didn't get to watch any of them. Only caught the Spurs game tonight.

Malik Monk a rough one out of the gate, 1/9 shooting. He did miss most of the summer so he might be a bit rusty.

Jonathan Isaac looked solid in 16 minutes of action, 2/3 shooting, 8 boards, a couple blocks and no turnovers.

Bam Adebayo did nothing in his 5 minutes.

Dillon Brooks with a big night out of nowhere, 19 pts on great shooting and stats in just about every other category.

Donovan Mitchell was pretty mediocre.

Swanigan was solid, higher pick Zack Collins didn't even get off the bench...must be hurt since they won by 50pts.

Josh Jackson looked good early, but hard to look too good when your team loses by 50 at home on opening night to a team that was missing an all star.

D'Aaron Fox looked good, but is splitting time at PG. Justin Jackson started and didn't do shit.

Fox looked awesome from what I saw. Better than the stats would indicate.

Patrick is going to hound the hell out of him defensively. I expect him to pick him a few times also. Its a good matchup for Ball right out the gate. Patrick has made himself into a solid pro and also is a helluva defender.

I watched the highlights this morning and he looked very good. I'll be keeping my eye on him this year. Very similar to John Wall in his ability to get to the basket.

Some rookie notes from last night.

Kennard made his debut and played really well. No surprise, he's probably been the most consistent rookie since summer league, yet no one is talking about him.

Mitchell continues to struggle.

Fultz has his moments, but is still shooting poorly.

Isaac continues to impress with limited shots.

TJ Leaf with a great game, not surpring for me, thought he was underrated at draft.

Tatum and Josh Jackson with meh nights.

Fox with 10 dimes, but poor shooting.

I'm pretty sure Ben Simmons will win ROY if he stays relatively healthy.

Jordan Bell is going to be one of the steals of the draft. In his 8 minutes a night, the first four games of his rookie year, he still grabs a couple of rebounds, has an assist, plays good D and scores 4 points. Guy is going to be a consistent 15/6/4 guy very soon.

Bulls suck.

"We didn't see a guy worth taking there, so we need to put some money in Reinsdorf's pockets because we owed him."

yep, been saying that since the draft. I'm no pro scout, but even I could tell that Bell was going to be this good after watching him all year at Oregon.

Gotta give a shoutout to Mike James! Tiny guard, spent the past 5 years in Europe on several teams and is finally in the NBA. Started last night for Phoenix and responded with 18pts on 8/10 shooting to go along with 7 assists...and a victory.

And of course, props to Ben Simmons, the best player to come into the league in a long time. Beat Lonzo to the first rookie triple double of the year. He honestly is a guy who could one day average a triple double.

I think Simmons is a lot better than Ball right now.

any other insight?

Simmons is a lot better than most of the NBA right now. He is going to run away with ROY. But, it helps quite a bit that he had an extra year to prepare for his rookie year.

I don't think he's a bust but it looks like they might have fucked that up pretty bad.

Then why'd they do it?

You won't know what Fultz is until his shoulder gets right. Everything is to the cup because he can't shoot jump shots. He has a nice game and he's long. I think he is better than Ball. I thought and still think Tatum was the best player in the draft but I haven't seen enough of a healthy Fultz to say he isn't better. Like him thus far but not enough to say he is a definitive No. 1 overall.

If he's so hurt to the point where he can't shoot jump shots because of it he needs to sit until he's healthy.

I like the fact that he is hooping. We complain when people are available to play and won't. Well he is available and playing. We bashed the hell out of Rose because he never played hurt. This guy does apparently.

I don't understand your point. Are you saying, why draft Fultz when you already have Ben Simmons running the point or are you saying, actually I don't know what else you could be saying.

Fultz is clearly playing hurt. He even said it hurts his arm to lift it above his head to shoot. Sixers should shut him down till he's 100%, but maybe Sixers are a little gun shy about shutting down yet another #1 pick in his rookie year.

The real question is, why trade up for the pick if they didn't need a PG? They could've stayed at #3 and drafted Tatum or Jackson. Maybe they weren't convinced that Simmons would be a PG and they figured they still needed one? Or maybe they think Fultz is more of a 2 guard and he can play off the ball with Simmons?

Yep. I think they see Fultz as a 2 and insurance if Simmons doesn't work as a 1. I also think they needed a guy in the backcourt that has the potential to be a star. They have been frontcourt intensive in their drafting. Fultz had been the overwhelming choice as the No.1 player for awhile.

This is WRONG.

We bashed Rose because he didn't play when healthy. Multiple doctors examined him and cleared him to play MONTHS before the season ended and he chose not to play during the season or postseason.

No doctor would state that Fultz is 100% healthy right now.
