He might not improve that much either offensively or defensively. Triple doubles can be overrated too.

You can have one and still play terribly.

He's already one of the best rebounding PG in the league. His passing ability will likely be elite. He has nowhere to go but up when it comes to scoring. He isn't going to be a 30% shooter for his career.

There are certain things that are difficult to correct. He doesn't finish particularly well. He doesn't shoot well. Its magnified when defenders are in his grill. He isn't going to get particularly quicker off the bounce. He is adept at running fast breaks but in half court sets he is extremely ordinary.

I think Lonzo was a good shooter in college but regardless, shooting is something that most players improve upon and some fairly quickly.

Its going to always be difficult for him to get that shot off. It doesn't matter if guys are on him or they're closing out. I wonder if he will be effective with that release and form. Speed of the NBA game is a lot different than college and I'm sure he was playing against a lot of zone defenses in college.

I've watched most of his three games so far. He has no issue getting his shot off. I agree it's a weird hitch though.

Lonzo continues to look good. Struggling with his shot, but so is pretty much every single rookie this year. His shot will get better, no doubt about that. His defense has not been that bad and will only get better with education.

His main problem is his team really sucks. Way too many shot happy ball stoppers. Lonzo loves to push the ball upcourt with a long outlet pass, but the problem is that he rarely gets it back after that since there are so many black holes on the team.

Looking forward to his next game.

His defense is pretty much non existent.

His teammates do suck but ltg was correct that they were the ones who brought the team back from a deficit Ball helped create. He's not some prodigy playing with completely inferior players right now. He's a flawed player with an extremely limited game so far from what I can tell. Potential is there though.

There are different degrees to being bad at defense. Ball is atrocious at it.

So James Harden level?

And the game before it was Lonzo who led the team on the run that led to the win.

Worse. He doesn't even attempt to fight through picks and can't apply ball pressure. Etwaun Moore dropped 19 on him last night. Bledsoe 28 the game before. Guys blow by him at will also. He has Washington on Wednesday. Probably will check Otto Porter instead of Wall or Beal.

Yep perfect comparison. Martin was always a dead eye shooter though. Even when he first entered the league plus his release was quicker. Similar defensively too.

Granted I have Wall in fantasy, but don't think outside of gambling I have ever had an interest in a midweek Lakers, Wizards type game in my life.

yea this should be interesting tonight. If someone on the Lakers doesn't put Wall into the 3rd row the first time he goes to the hole I'll have no respect for them. And someone better put a hard foul on Gorat too. Its one thing to talk it up off the court and say how mad you are at those guys and how you have Lonzo's back, but that needs to be shown through on court actions, not off court words.

End of 1st qtr. Wall and Ball have had virtually zero impact on the game so far.

I was laughing at everyone suggesting Wall would shut Lonzo down. Wall doesn't shut anybody down.

I completely agree. If he was going to fuck Lonzo up it would be on the offensive end. He can demoralize you on that side of the court. As well as in transition. Lonzo needs to get it going tho.

First half went to Lonzo, but neither did much. Wall with a whopping one basket when Lonzo was on the court and Lonzo stripped him clean twice. Wall 1-6 when Lonzo was out there and Lonzo guarded wall more than Wall guarded Lonzo.

I barely agree.

However, I do wonder if Lavar's trolling has distracted both teams. Something to watch out for the rest of the season.

I'm sure it's been said before, but Ball really does remind me of a taller Jason Kidd. Hopefully, he finds his shot before year 10 or 11 tho.

All this talk of Wall making the all defensive first team is hilarious. He looked so sincere too when he said he thought he deserved to make it in the past.

I know the Wizards are missing shots, but I gotta give some credit to Walton for getting all these young guys to play halfway decent defense and rebound pretty well.

That was a huge rebound/assist by Lonzo.

The lack of scoring ability is going to be an issue but he has a lot of time to work on that.
