Clippers are still a playoff team, they're not that bad. They at least have a superstar plus Deandre Jordan.

unless the west is worse than I think, this is not true. They picked up Danilo and he's starting for crying out loud.

Only question about him is health. If he plays 75+ games he'll be a top 3 MVP candidate.

you don't see the same player I do.

He probably won't be healthy so whatever, but he's spending way too much time now floating on the perimeter on offense.

A little. I think Blake played well when Paul was out in recent years and their games were never as complementary as was often portrayed. If he breaks down though it's all moot.

Ball will never be a star. He's going to suck hard st the beginning of his career trying to be a star and then be somewhat serviceable late in his career when he takes a rolw on a good team like Shaun Livingston. Basically, the opposite of dolphin's posting career.

Minus the serviceable part.

I was just going to look for some stats to support your argument, and read he is dating Kendall Jenner. His career is over now  The Jenner/Kardashian crew are career killers.

Phoenix doesn't play a lick of defense. He is a good rebounder especially for a guard. He looks like he will avg about 6-7 a game.

He doesn't finish well and is a very bad defender. Guys go by him at will. His man scored 28 on a third of the shots. The journeyman from overseas dropped 13 on him during the 3rd quarter alone.

He played well overall though.

Youngest player since Lebron in 2005 to put up stats like that. 2 games in Lonzo has set the bar for best game by a rookie this year. let's see how long before someone tops it, or if that even happens. I imagine it will be him and Simmons battling it out all year at the top of class. They're the only two guys who can fill a stat sheet like that.

Shame his team sucks so much or else he would've had an easy triple double. Both Lopez and Ingram missed wide open jumpers in final minute that would've given Lonzo an apple.

The reason that he will put up numbers is because his team sucks so bad. Stats aren't the only barometer either. MCW had a helluva game one when he was a rookie too. Ball is in the best situation to put up numbers and Phoenix plays no defense. They were dying on that high screen roll all night.

I will check him out tomorrow and see what's up.

Narrative before last night: Lonzo can't play in the NBA
Narrative after last night: Lonzo can only play against certain teams in the NBA

Looking forward to seeing the narrative change throughout the season.

You stated that he'd be a stud. There has been nothing to demonstrate that and you find alternative ways to assess him whenever he has a bad game. If he doesn't do shit offensively it becomes about the 5 rebounds that he grabbed. If not that it was the 7 assists. His man dropped 28 on him last night while playing fewer minutes.

Ball also had the worst plus minus of any of the other starters too. I don't generally care about that stat but it should be noted if we are going to discuss his teammates.

Dude's a rookie. Not many rookies get it done on the defensive end. And if there's a position where weak-sauce defense is more tolerated than at the other positions, it's PG (see: Kyrie)

He isn't as dynamic offensively though and that's not just "a rookie" thing. Irving was much better offensively as a rookie than Ball.

Pretty high bar, the best offensive PG in recent memory in Kyrie. Lonzo's not going to reach Kyrie levels offensively, but Ball's lack of D, esp this early on, isn't going to keep him off the floor @PG.

I mean... it's hard for me to say he looks good here. There's nobody defending him on almost every one of these.

29/9/11. Youngest player to ever put up that statline.

Alternative way to assess whenever he had a bad game?

LOL, you mean like quoting +/- single game stats? No, you're the only person here looking for alternative ways to assess. BTW, Kuzma had an awful +/- in that game as well. He went 6/7 from the field, did he have a bad game too?

Pointless discussion at this point. Need at least a year if not two. Kyrie's offense is overstated. Rose and Westbrook were/are more explosive. Kyrie has nice handles. That's great for YouTube. Rose and Westbrook won games with their offense.

One more than Irving. He's also an MVP. So is Rose. Irving hasn't made second team all NBA yet. He's not on their level.
