November 1st

Celtics: 6-2, won 6th straight tonight

Cavs: 3-5, out of the playoff picture right now, missing Kyrie badly

Vegan, feel free to wait until April to apologize. That's fine.

The Cavs will turn it around and win the East again. Hayward injury really hurts.

This is pretty bold
The cavs look bad right now but you don't think they'll be back on track sooner than later ?
Assuming Thomas comes back and plays near his typical level I'd take them over the Celtics in a 7 game series

Lebron doesn’t really try until April, does he?

Also, just an FYI for you basketball fans... I’ve heard about some big kid for the Bucks who’s gonna be decent. You heard it here first.

I thought so coming into the season even with a healthy Hayward. I'm not sure how. I'll reserve judgement until Thomas comes back from injury but the Cavs look like total dogshit. They also still have the Brooklyn pick to dangle for help so we'll see.

With the current rosters the Cavs wouldn't make it to the ECF, let alone the Finals.

You'd have to see my previous post, but I agree we need to wait until March/April to have a good idea of who will win, but I think the Cavs are in a lot more trouble than most people realize. This isn't complacency. They are a bad team right now.

Yea I get that they're old
But Thomas is a pretty key player
I think it's fair to wait to judge them until he comes back
And it's the east so they can coast it's no biggie

Cavs will be fine in the long term. Celtics are playing better than I expected with the injury.

A trade that has had some impact is the Oladipo deal for the Pacers. He has been playing great.

I understand its a different talent level, but remember the Big 3's start in Miami; not so good. I think the Celtics are a veteran wing player away this year (which Hayward would have provided). This is definitely the last year for the Cavs though; they make it to the Finals and get killed by one of the West teams.

November 5th

Celtics - 8-2, just beat the 6-3 Magic for a road victory and 8 straight wins. Kyrie continues to captain the ship

Cavs - 4-6, lost to the 1-8 Hawks at home, straight trash

Boston coming up aces so far

Still hard to tell until the Cavs get IT back healthy.

But so far the Cavs look really bad. Surely things come together for them, but right now they look bad bad bad

Isaiah Thomas will not help with defense. In fact he makes their defense worse. Their most glaring weakness is defense.

It is also going to be difficult for Thomas to play with James on offense.

First part is true, I doubt the second part is. On paper it's a near perfect fit.

Bump

Celtics are 14-2, 14 game winning streak, took out the champs tonight on a Kyrie drive through three defenders where they were beat and had to foul.

Cavs are like .500 or some shit, don't feel like looking it up

MAJOR advantage to Celtics so far

Vegan will remain silent

Adrian Wojnarowski
ESPN

The Cleveland Cavaliers held a fiery team meeting in the practice facility locker room prior to Monday's practice, during which several players challenged the legitimacy of Kevin Love's illness that led him to leave Saturday's loss to Oklahoma City early and miss Sunday's practice, league sources told ESPN.

Several players were pushing for the Cavaliers' management and coaching staff to hold Love accountable for leaving the arena before the end of Saturday's game, and then missing Sunday's practice, league sources told ESPN.

The meeting was loud and intense, only calming down once Love spoke to those gathered in the room and explained himself, league sources said.

The meeting included Cavaliers coach Ty Lue and general manager Koby Altman, league sources said.

There was a sense that the team was largely accepting of Love's explanation, and that the airing out of issues could have a positive impact on what has become an increasingly fractured locker room. Within factions of the locker room, there has been blame for the Cavaliers' struggles directed at everyone from Love to Isaiah Thomas, to Lue and the front office, led by Altman, and owner Dan Gilbert, league sources said.

Cleveland is in a spiral, dropping to 27-18 -- only one game ahead of the Miami Heat for third place in the Eastern Conference. Cleveland has lost six of its past eight games, and plays San Antonio on Tuesday night in Texas.

Meanwhile the Celtics are cruising.

This is looking like an all time bad trade for Cleveland depending on what happens with that Brooklyn pick.

It would be more noteworthy if the Cavs didn't have their usual winter crisis and team meeting.

The Cavaliers will be in the Finals.

Though speaking of hypocrisy, FF was calling out vegan for not stepping to the conversation and yet this thread was suddenly silent for 9 weeks, during which the Cavaliers had a good run, including a 13 game winning streak.

Probably, but this is the worst Cavs team he’s had since he’s come back, and its directly because of this trade.

Exactly.

My point was never "Kyrie is going to suck." It is/was: Kyrie is a bitch for leaving, and he'll never win a championship as the no. 1 guy.

Nah that dog won't hunt. You repeatedly implied that he wasn't shit as a player til Lebron came a calling. You held him personally responsible for them missing the playoffs during his first 3 years.

You never took into account who his teammates were or what the organization happened to be at the time.

In your opinion he owed his entire career to Lebron James.

You even rejoiced when they started the season 0-2.

Can't backpedal on that now.

He was let us not forget nothing more than a "youtube sensation" with "and one metrics".

His one on one ability translates to him being nothing more than Ricky Davis.

I can’t bump all threads at all times.

I think we can officially call this trade a disaster for Cleveland. And they will not be back in the Finals.

Not backpedaling from anything. Kyrie is a bitch. LBJ made him a winner. No doubt about that. He wasn't shit before that except a YouTube star. Can't really have a debate with you about this because you have extremely low standards. You praised Jahili Okafor for "dropping ten points" in a game once. You created a shout out thread for a coach with the third worst record in the league. You think making the All Rookie team matters. Your standards are a joke.

Its difficult to debate with a guy who thinks the only person with value is Lebron James. You're worse than Dan Bernstein.

Youtube sensations aren't 2 time All Stars (which he was prior to James's arrival. You compared him to Ricky Davis and you are calling my standards a joke.

I keep things in their proper perspective. You don't. You have chosen to make personalize it with respect to Irving.

The kid is a certified killer on the court and for what it is worth James is more of what you accuse him of being.

James is the one that tweets about teammates and whines about needing players every year.

For some reason you have no problem with because he is "Lebron James" dammit". Your love for Lebron is worse than Bernstein's. That is saying a lot.

Again, I never said he isn't good. I said he's probably a HOF'er. I said, for the 5th time, that he wasn't a winner before LBJ.
