I don't care for Irving much but I have to say I think he's been getting kind of a raw deal this season. It seems like the entirety of the Boston sports media has been acting like jilted lovers all year, leaking stuff (most likely from Ainge) about what a huge problem he's been in the locker room in Brooklyn. Color me skeptical about Jackie MacMullan and the Globe having all these deep sources letting them know exactly what's going on behind the scenes in Brooklyn and reporting things that the team's own beat writers aren't. This is compounded by the collective effort of that same media to place all the blame for last year on Irving and not their brilliant asset-hoarding GM or anointed boy genius coach.

The same applies to the way so many people acted flabbergasted about him becoming vice president of the union; it seems like a lot of the journalists and pundits are having a difficult time grasping the fact that just because they dislike him doesn't mean the players feel the same way.

Like I said, I don't like the guy and have argued against him, possibly in this very thread. It's just strange to me the collective hatred he seems to inspire in Boston, particularly since the team is doing pretty well without him anyway.

Simple: because he trashed the young guys there and failed miserably as a veteran leader. Then he ditched them. He's a b.itch

He was a pain in the ass in Boston too, they just dealt with it because that team was a title contender. I think they're better off without him, bad attitude and Tatum is their new leader.

You can say the exact same thing about Lebron.
