If you would have told me that the Bulls would have gotten more for trading Butler than the Clippers got for trading CP3 and Griffin I would have thought that you were crazy. Especially with Jerry West around.

Thibs should have been out there offering Teague, Dieng and a 2nd round pick

Clippers got raped. What an awful trade.

Bulls could have offered Mirotic, Holiday, Zipster and a 2nd rounder and that would have been a better return.

Its a good gamble only bc Detroit wasn't doing shit anyways and had 0 chance of getting any kind of impact free agent anytime soon
That said I still don't think this makes them great or anywhere close
Do you agree with Nas that they're a top 5 team in the east now ?

They are not a top 5 in the state

They might be but the top of the east is weak like Ukraine.

Spacing will be a problem even with Blake shooting 3s now.

No.

Bradley and Harris are good players. The narrative that the Clippers received nothing in return is false.

You usually get a lot more for a super star.

Avery Bradley has a PER of 10 right now. At this point, Denzel Valentine can do the same things as Avery Bradley.

Get back to me when Valentine makes all defensive first team.

I used to think your Nwaba = Leonard comp was trolling but looks like you were serious

Griffin is an injury waiting to happen.

Huge win Clippers.

It was a good move for the Clipppers because teams typically don't get much for a guy in the last year of a deal. Doc is probably done with the Clippers at some point and shortly thereafter they will probably cut Austin Rivers too.

Valentine's defense isn't as bad as people make it out to be. He is improved in that regard with room to grow. He's a "participator" in the concepts of team defense

This was a good trade for the Clippers provided they resign Bradley. Pick figures to be in the top half of the first round. Harris is a good player also.

Quote:
A word on loyalty: The Clippers went out of their way to label Griffin a "Clipper for life." As I first revealed here, the preamble to their free agency pitch meeting involved walking Griffin through a makeshift museum of his life and then retiring his number -- literally raising it to the rafters as music played in an empty Staples Center -- in a staged "ceremony."

Ooops.

Quote:
They (Detroit) have $28 million in combined 2018-19 salary invested in Leuer, Langston Galloway, Ish Smith and Josh Smith. (Yes, that Josh Smith. He hasn't played for the Pistons since December 2014, but they are paying him $5.3 million per season through 2019-20 anyway.)

I have to agree with Dave McMenamin that we'll likely be seeing more and more guys demanding no trade clauses if they find themselves in Griffin's situation in the future.

This is also exactly the kind of thing that leads to players wanting to say screw loyalty and form superteams. If it's okay for teams to decide "it's just business" in situations like this, it's equally acceptable for the players themselves to do so as well.

Blake's agent failed... especially after that phony retirement ceremony bit, could have easily gotten a no trade clause... right?

Only a matter of time before the Kardashians trade him in, too.

Does this trade make the Pistons better than the Celtics?

Maybe better than the '87 Celtics (If Larry Bird was walking through that door today).
