What an amazing career. I especially enjoy the "Won at least 50 games 5 times" statistic. Who wouldn't be excited about 5 50+ win seasons in 16 years?

long time guy wrote:
Ok are you making the argument that his teams weren't particularly good because he happened to be a part of them?
No, I am not making that argument.

There are many others but i care not to cite them.

You want to say he is a bum then say he is a bum. If you want to say playoff success is the only thing you use to measure a player's career then say that too.

Carmelo Anthony whether you like it or not will go down as one of the better players of his era.

To pooh pooh the 14 year thing is stupid because if it were that easy more than 5 people would have accomplished it at some point in history.

It is at that point that I bid adieu.

I said he was irrelevant and he was. He just didn't have a big impact in the NBA.

Well, it kind of is a dumb stat. I mean, guys like Kobe and Karl Malone are clearly much better than Carmelo, and yet they didn't do that.

There is no dumber argument than guys are relevant simply because they have won in the playoffs yet you repeatedly make it.

Well he shouldn't make the Hall of Fame since last i checked the purpose of the Hall is to establish one's legacy. Pretty dumb thing to say don't you think?

LTG was mad that I wasn't calling out stupid NBA posters enough but then I do it in this thread and my posts get ignored. No pleasing some people.

If you have a GOOD team, you don't want Carmelo on your team. He detracts.

Look at Oklahoma City and Houston. It is simple. This isn't just fans that take this stance. NBA franchises, with the sole goal if winning a championship, have jettisoned Carmelo. If he was good, or even in the spectrum of great, you'd think they could have kept him around?

Another in a long line of quality posts. Houston really has played lights out since "jettisoning" Melo. I guess they are in the process of realizing their goal of winning a championship now. That damn Melo sure was a problem wasn't he?

As we like to say I like my odds then. Your track record of being correct on anything is similar to IMU's and Shakes. That ain't exactly the sort of company that i prefer to keep anyway. Even Vegan has a better record.

The Process. Book It. Before you start spinning for Jimmy Butler its Embiid (wasted pick) Thats the MVP candidate. Not Jimmy Butler.

I still got Fultz better and Trae Young is looking worse by the game. If the best you got is saying he is better than an injured guy then you don't have much.

Thats the same idiocy that made you proclaim Embiid to be a "wasted draft pick".

The Embiid quote was because he played 30 games in three years...let's use it as I meant it.The Process had nothing about trading for an All Star Guard now did it? If the best you have to say is an injured head case is better than ROY canidate you don't have much

The Embiid quote was because he played 30 games in three years...let's use it as I meant it.

1. It still was a stupid comment because by that point Embiid had already demonstrated that he was big time.
2. It also was stupid since none of the injuries that he suffered were career threatening.
3. It was also stupid since none of the guys drafted after him in the first round (Save for Aaron Gordon) have had an impact in the league. It isn't like passing on him allowed them to choose anyone of significance

Quote:

This also makes little sense since both guys traded for Butler were acquisitions made during the Process. They were both starters and also guys considered part of the Process.. This means they had a lot to do with the "Process". Saric was traded and considered a significant piece early on in the Process. Covington just signed a long term deal.

Also I seem to remember you celebrating like hell when Minnesota traded for Butler. He wasn't part of my "original young talent" thesie either yet You claimed him anyway. I rolled with it anyway. My beat never changed unlike yours. I don't recall you ever making a distinction either. You rolled with the shit like it was gospel and you still came out looking foolish.
