There was already a thread about this 15 minutes before you posted. Pretty good indicator that you knew of it yet made a duplicate thread anyway.

Uh no? I do not see any other duplicate thread anywhere. I read it online and made a post here. WTF you talking about?

I edited my original thread on this. Maybe thats the "duplicate" thread.

very sad.

I rooted against him but watched every game that was on TV. He was magnetic.

Hard to believe.

Kobe dies, and we're not supposed to talk about it in the NBA section? Fuck yourself.

The RIP thread is for when everything is calmed down and to document the death for board posterity.

A few questions are clearing up I had. The weather apparently was clear on the takeoff. From takeoff to crash was 55 miles. What I read the fog was rolled in into the journey at takeoff already. The pilot very a highly trained, well respected, clean record ace pilot. Private helicopter pilots will sometimes fly even if the police helicopters are grounded.

Some questions I guess will never be answered. Did Kobe put all his faith in the pilot's judgement on weather? Did anyone check the path and destination weather other than the pilot? Did Kobe's wife have any say on when the kids don't fly in bad weather? How could a brilliant pilot who's flown in bad weather get himself in such a situation? When was the last chance to go back or land somewhere else?

A SF tv station had a piece where a pilot when asked said he would never have started the journey in that weather that day. My first thought was if I'm a passenger I'm healthy paranoid and I'm constantly monitoring the weather pre trip while I'm on the ground with a trigger finger on me cancelling. Seems like everybody put too much faith that everybody else was doing due diligence.

D12 gets it right again:

Dwight Howard: ‘We Should Appreciate People While They’re Alive’

https://lakersdaily.com/dwight-howard-w ... yre-alive/

***********************
The Los Angeles Lakers are still reeling from the tragic loss of team legend Kobe Bryant.

One current Lakers player who once suited up with Bryant is big man Dwight Howard.

For years, the relationship between Bryant and Howard was quite strained. However, recently the two were able to bury the hatchet.

In an eerie stroke of fate, Howard spoke about the fragility of life and appreciating people while they’re alive, just hours before Bryant’s untimely death.

He opened up about that sentiment when LeBron James passed Bryant on the NBA’s all-time scoring leaders list last Saturday.

Little did Howard know that he and his teammates would be mourning Bryant’s death the very next morning.

Players all over the league have expressed their deep sorrow over losing a person who was not only a hero, but also a mentor and friend to so many.

There is something very special about the fact that Howard and Bryant were able to reconcile and forgive one another for all that transpired during their season of playing together.

Until just months ago, it seemed impossible that Bryant would ever speak positively about Howard and vice versa. Luckily, the lasting sentiments each man had about the other were wholly positive.

Hopefully, everyone who was impacted or inspired by Bryant remembers Howard’s sagely advice.

Even those who seem truly invincible can be struck down by fate. What matters most is how people treat one another while they are lucky enough to be alive.
