Should have to meet the goal score and win by 3.

That 4th was worth the price of admission.

Yeah, that's a shame. They should change that. Good format though. Couple tweaks, I like it.

Yea they might at well play to points every qtr. That and put even more money on the line for the kids. Having that many kids in the stands screaming at the players had to make a difference.

They can probably do something like that next year, but they painted themselves into a corner with the 'first to 24 points because Kobe' gimmick.

I love charity but if they give all the charities the same money, they will ruin the format.

The premise is these guys have a stake in winning the game/quarter for charity - something real. If everyone knows it doesn't matter then they won't really care.

This was great.

What does that get us? A discontented, lazy rabble instead of a thrifty, working class.

This was great.

They almost have to formally change the rules so that we all know the refs aren't calling anything for the first three quarters... you can travel or charge or whatever you want (short of a flagrant), but know they are going to call it like a real game for the Kobe Quarter. I thought it really worked though... most of the time I am like, well, I will look at the game for a bit, but oh it is alley-oop NBA Jam Harlem Globetrotters crap, but this end was like really, really good. My personal opinion for the charity aspect, they should have just split the 3rd quarter 50k/50k, but kind of a minor complaint. If they adopt this for future years, I'll just wait until 9:20 or so to tune the game in.

Nick Nurse was a dbag for not using any subs in the 4th quarter. Cost his team the game. Blew a 9 point lead and had a lineup out there that couldn't score. Yet, left a guy on the bench with 10 assists in 15 minutes and another guy who was 10/11 from the field. All so his two Toronto players could play the entire 4th.

Probably the best ASG since 2001. Or at least best 4th quarter since then.

2003 was cool with it being MJ's last all-star game and hitting that fadeaway to put the east up in regulation.

Kemba definitely got too much time.

Lowry made some big plays for them....I can see why they kept rolling with him.

Gobert wasn't going to bring any offense down the stretch...maybe a put back on a rebound.

Did it beat the XFL's ratings this weekend?

Not sure, but in-stadium attendance was down. Week 1 certainly didn't cause any football fans to run out and buy tickets.

Teddy Greenstein is complaining that it shouldn't take 32 years for the Bulls to get another All-Star game. Hey Teddy, there are 32 teams in the league...you think some cities/teams should get skipped? If that were the case, the disgraceful Bulls should have been skipped.

Well yeah, some cities absolutely should be skipped. No need for Portland, Milwaukee, Salt Lake City or more than one Texas team to host.

Reinsdorf fought the NBA about bringing it back here for years. That's why it took 32 years.

The season ticket argument seems like a really poor excuse. You're entitled to 41 home games a year. The ASG and weekend is not a "home game." I can't accept season ticket holder angst as a cost of hosting the event. I'm wondering what legitimate costs are out there that would make a team think twice about hosting a game beyond obvious logistical issues. And all the benefits (civic stuff, local business revenue, publicity, etc) seem good but it's hard to quantify those benefits when I don't yet understand the costs. Season ticket holders can go fuck themselves if they're really griping bout this.
