Is there more of a guaranteed bust than this guy in the current draft? Plays no defense and hid out in Australia so he wasn't exposed at the college level.

The only scary thing about this kid is he was sheltered and he has the same father. That wildcard makes him too much of a wildcard for me.

Comically bad if you have Lavine and Ball in same back court. I'll just focus on watching the Bucks if that happens.

Lavine would be traded. I think he will be anyway.

If Bulls got Lamelo it would be interesting. Even if it's fun-bad. Seriously what the fuck does a pick like Patrick Williams do for you?

They had John Oliver on this morning and I thought Bernsie was going to choke to death. Oliver said you MUST get away from this championship or bust mentality. You cannot say what does this guy do for you. You must find the best peopple to do the things you want to accomplish. That you believe in.

I dont think anyone in this draft is going to be a player that really transforms a team. So put em all in a hat and pick a name out.

Sure. Just leave Ball's name out of that hat

When you get away from that, you wind up in NBA hell.

I am in agreement. I want nothing to do with Ball, which means they probably end the night with both Ball brothers on the team

Worst case scenario is them trading Wendell and 4 to move up to 2 to take Ball

Or some say when you try that and miss time after time you end up in hell. Idk what is right but to keep going through cycles of sucking trying to get the number one pick or the best FA doesn't work. Many franchises besides Bulls see that.

I have said it before but your sport has a problem when most players in the draft after #3 are useless basically.

I understand why people don't like the idea of having a Ball on the Bulls but I think Lamelo will be a stud.

I also miss LTG's thoughts on this.

I wouldn't trust any of LTG's thoughts on someone named Melo.

Patrick Williams is what you might be looking for then. Haven't we been blasting Garpax for Wendell Carter dime a dozen picks? At least a boom or bust pick like Williams gets you the mindset you want.

For real??

Can't shoot/can't play defense is a pretty tough combo to overcome.

There is some hack sports writer in New Orleans hoping he falls to the Pelicans for no other reason than to be able to write the headline "NOLA's Got Balls!!!"

Thanks Zippy.

He has a better skill set and will be a better pro than his brother. Elite handle and an elite passer as well. The mechanics on his jump shot are terrible though and from what i have seen of him on highlights over the years his shot selection stinks. Not ready to go stud yet because I wonder what type of competitor that he happens to be.

He has been very much hidden by his dad over the years. He hasn't played an ounce of competitive basketball in 4-5 years. Its been nothing but one showcase after another. That has had to hurt his development.

I also don't know how receptive he will be to being coached by guys other than his father. Will he be willing to work at the things that he is currently deficient in? He is extremely weak defensively and he has a bad shooter with terrible shots and bad shot selection. If he understands that then he can get better. If he doesn't then he will be just another talented guy that fizzles out the league in 4-5 years.

Because of the incessant hyping done by his dad he may fallaciously think that he is a finished product when he actually is not. In interviews with him it appears that this is very much the case.

Doesn't lonzo seem to be a good guy? Thought I read that somewhere. Maybe if so he can rub off on his bro.

After a poor performance in his first NBA game, LaMelo Ball has been not just a solid rookie but a solid player for Hornets. Over the 11 games since his debut, including Wednesday’s loss to Dallas, Ball has averaged 12.7 points, 7.5 rebounds and 6.2 assists on 42% field goal shooting and 34.6% 3-point shooting.

Because of that strong spell, Ball has thrust himself into the front of the Rookie of the Year race. Ball currently is third in the league in PER among all rookies as well as third in points per game, first in assists and first in rebounds.

Ahead of Wednesday’s game, Dallas coach Rick Carlisle spoke about Ball, tabbing him as the early favorite for Rookie of the Year.

“He’s terrific,” Carlisle said. “Right now, with the way things look, he looks like Rookie of the Year to me. He’s getting it done statistically, their team is winning, he’s got energy, he’s got a vibe, he’s got swagger. If you like watching players that play with flair, he’s right up there. He had a huge game against us. We have great respect for him. That’s about all I can say about it – the guy is getting the job done on the floor.”

lots of bad takes in this thread. Lamelo looks great. Taller than Lonzo and similar in a lot of ways, but much better than Lonzo on the offensive end of the floor. Lamelo can actually finish a lay up and score in the half court. Also appears to be a great teammate just like Lonzo. So far nothing but rave reviews from everyone in Charlotte.
