Whatever category Barkley, Iverson, and Paul are in, he's in that category.

No. He is not in that category; he is in a category below those 3 guys.

Maybe Iverson but not Barkley or Paul

The 11 seasons in OKC says different. Jumping from team to team after that did him no favors.

Charles Barkley was definitely a greater player than Russell Westbrook. He was much more dominant, efficient and played within the offense.

Great player. Stat stuffer.

Russel is clearly an example of effort making the difference. He never had any special talents. Accurate passer, that helps, but other than that he didnt do anything special. Could run too, but his accuracy was why he was good

Definitely a stat stuffer and shows how deceptive stats can be in judging the game.

Take those 4 guys and pick one to start a team with. No one would pick Westbrook. Barkley would be my hands down pick. But you would be fine with Iverson and Paul as well.

Most great players become great because of effort.

Westbrook Great Competitor. Not A Great Player. If he were then he'd still be able to play at a high level right now.

Bosh and Love struggled in a similar role. It's still early. That being said I wasn't a fan of his game in recent years.

Westbrook struggled last year and in Houston as well. I am a fan of his as a competitor but that doesn't mean he is a great player.

I think it's always been tough for me to separate Westbrook the player from Westbrook the competitor . Often times it clouded my judgment of him.

Can’t he be both?

It can be. I don't think both are true. If you do that's fine. I disagree that it's both though.

the competitor thing with Westbrook is a constant. Westbrook has been a great player for multiple seasons in the past and more recently for parts of seasons.

He's in the Hubert Davis category

I was a huge fan of Westbrook's. Over the past few years I've recognized that he's nothing more than a high motor stat padder. Hood and I argued about this near the end of last season.

Agree. When he was considered a better player he was also possibly the most selfish player in the league at the time.

He’s always been a bit ‘my turn’ guy, which I think was most evident in that okc-heat finals. I think that seems like stat padding at times, but I buy that he truly believes he’s always the best option (which prob goes back to the competitor point).

He’s got the mindset of a Jordan but just not the skill. I don’t think that means he’s not been a great player.

Also, peak Westbrook was electric.
