No one is actually arguing this. Iverson was MVP. He definitely goes in the conversation with him though. Westbrook also.
In addition he was a two time MVP and the only Hall of Famer on that team

There's a fair amount of controversy over his MVPs. Shaq believed he should have had one and I agree. Nash was a great facilitator. Not #1 though.

You can quibble about that. You can't quibble about him being a #2.
He avg 19 and 11 one year.
19 and 12 another.

If he is dropping 19 per game that makes him much more than simply "a facilitator"

Kobe averaged 40 one of those years too.

Nah nowhere near plus the Lakers were a shitty team as I recall.

Yeah, take away Joe Johnson and Stoudemire then let's see how much Nash "drops." He did his thing from the arc and that's fine, but like I've repeatedly said the fact that defenses had to guard everyone on that team allowed Nash to capitalize.

The 2009 one is very interesting to think about. Maybe it goes like this:

Curry
Harden
DeRozan
Blake
Holiday
Rubio
Jennings
Teague
Taj Gibson

I didn't realize how bad 2003 was. From top to bottom, I think 1996 may be the best.

And remove Nash and that same team wins 45-50 games tops.

The only person that could get his own look was Joe Johnson.

Yeah 1996 was probably the deepest in history. 1984 was top heavy. So was 2003. Huge dropff in 84 after the top 4. Same with 2003.

Probably would rate Rubio over Patrick but everything else looks good.

That's a good season! You're proving my point, the team was loaded. If you add Nash to a 30 win team then that team is probably winning 35 games the next year.

You're forgetting Amare Stoudemire. In 2004, Stoudemire was a stud and an ASG starter. He was an up and coming phenom.

Rubio no D. Beverley defensive menace. Although Rubio's playmaking almost makes up for his defense. If he hadn't been stuck on those crappy Twolves teams. Fun guy to watch run an offense.

He took a team you agree was a 45-50 team and they won over 60. He also was an MVP.

  Steve Nash was All NBA First team 3 years running.

No other person on those teams ever made more than one All NBA team. Marion was 3rd team once and Stoudemire was 1st team one year..
But Nash was merely a 3rd option at best

Oh yeah Nash was also All NBA 2nd team twice and A NBA 3rd team twice.

Stoudemire made a few other all NBA teams. First team only once

Nash 7 time All NBA. No more than a 3rd option at best according to Vegan. Ok. Sure he was.

What's up with these fools in Kanaydia? DRose going 10th after Beasley and 6/4/1 box Luc Mbah a Moute and a bunch of other players who'd never draft before DRose, even in retrospect.

Oh my bad you said equal. Still equally dumb and you know it.

You said a two time MVP was the 3rd best guy on his own team. That's pretty equivalent to saying Joe and Marion were better.

It's not much of a debate. Allen wins on longevity, at their best AI was better and it's not even a debate. In these cases I'll always take the guy who's high was higher and that's AI.

Didn't say that either. All I suggested was that if Nash is your #1 or #2 then you're not going anywhere. At best he's a #3 on a championship team. Nothing in history suggests the opposite.

Those Suns teams were really good and I enjoyed watching them. But he can't be the best player on a championship team. I think you'd agree.

Vegan you said that if Nash (7 time All NBA) was your 2nd best player your team goes nowhere. Which means that while Phoenix was winning 60 plus games and missed the finals only due to a suspension, you considered Nash to be no better than their 3rd best player. You have to based on your own words.

The analytics say that Allen had a far better career. That may be true, but peak Iverson may have been pound for pound the best scorer in NBA history.

Maybe he did have a "better career" but that does not mean he was the better basketball player. If you were redrafting their class there is no way I am taking Allen over Iverson. Give me Iverson every single time.

I only go with Westbrook because he played at a high level for a much longer period. At their peak Rose was no doubt better. Love would probably be 3rd with 4-10 a real crapshoot.

I think Serge or Brook Lopez would be 4th for me with Dragic 6th

Peak Ray was better. The Team AI took to the Finals doesn’t make or barely makes the playoffs if they played in the West. And he only had 1 year where he was able to do this or come close to it.

His teams were losers for most of his career. In some cases spectacular losers.
